Senior IT System Engineer for Citrix platforms

Your role in the team

• The Terminal Services area offers various solutions for the provisioning of virtual workplaces.
• In addition, comprehensive enterprise platforms for virtual desktops & apps are provided using Citrix CVAD and Citrix NetScaler, featuring advanced capabilities in load balancing, user experience, security, management, etc.
• The portfolio includes Hosted Personal Desktop (VDI), Hosted Shared Desktop, and Hosted Apps.

Responsibilities

• Consulting clients and internal management.
• Implementation and further development of Citrix platforms.
• Planning, implementation, and continuous optimization of Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD) environments, including Delivery Controller, VDA, StoreFront, Citrix Provisioning, and related infrastructure components.
• Participation in architecture and infrastructure projects
• Technical support for the full-time architects in design, migration, and transformation projects (e.g., release changes, capacity expansions, platform standardization, security hardening).
• Creation and maintenance of technical documentation, participation in the development of BWI requirement documents, architecture specifications, technical concepts, security concepts based on modernized Basic Protection, operating manuals, installation instructions, as well as standard and best practice documentation.
• Support in 3rd-Level Support / Troubleshooting, analysis and resolution of complex issues in the areas of CVAD, Citrix Provisioning, NetScaler/ADC, Windows Server, Profile Management, GPOs, as well as adjacent infrastructure (AD, DNS, PKI, network).
• Further development and operation of Citrix Provisioning (PVS), maintenance and optimization of vDisk structures, versioning, performance tuning, error analysis, as well as the further development of the provisioning strategy.
• Software packaging and distribution creation, testing, and rollout of software packages for Citrix environments via the existing SCCM/MECM infrastructure, including device, software, and patch management.
• Ensuring the integrity and compatibility within the Citrix images.
• Automation and Standardization Development and maintenance of automation solutions using PowerShell, Desired State Configuration (DSC), and Ansible.
• Support in transforming existing automations into strategic target architectures.
• Group Policy Management: Creation, analysis, and troubleshooting of GPOs in the context of Citrix environments, as well as optimization regarding performance, security, and maintainability.
• Security and performance optimization Implementation of hardening measures, analysis of performance bottlenecks, participation in load balancing and scaling concepts.
• Testing, quality assurance, and lifecycle management support for CU- and major upgrades, testing new versions, evaluating technical changes, and participating in standardized release processes.
• Coordination with adjacent specialist departments Technical collaboration with Operations, Service Management, Network, Security, and Platform teams within the scope of projects and operational handovers.

Our expectations:

Qualifications

• Certification in IT Service Management ITIL Foundation.
• Citrix certification minimum requirement: Citrix Certified Associate - Virtualization (CCA - V).
• Desirable: Citrix Certified Professional - Virtualization (CCP - V).
• Execution of project activities using agile methods.
• Participation in the development of IT concepts, installation instructions, operational procedures, operating manuals, and security concepts based on modernized IT-Grundschutz (BSI) in the context of authorities and/or defense. (at least 3 years).
• Implementation and operation of geo-redundant Citrix environments (at least 3 years).
• Operation, troubleshooting, and optimization of Citrix Provisioning, including high availability, management of PVS farms, image/vDisk management, and reverse imaging (at least 3 years).
• Management and optimization of an SCCM/MECM/MCM infrastructure, including device, software, and patch management.
• Operation and administration of Microsoft Server operating systems, Terminal Services, and Active Directory Service including GPO (minimum 3 years).
• Management, administration, and automation with PowerShell scripting (Citrix environments) (minimum 3 years).
• Very good language skills in German (at least C1) as well as good English skills (at least B1) are mandatory.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in an IT-related program or a recognized vocational training in an IT profession, alternatively at least 5 years of professional experience in an IT environment.
