Senior/ Lead Java/ AI Enablement Engineer

My client is seeking a high-impact Senior AI Enablement Engineer to help lead their engineering team into the next era of productivity. This individual will be instrumental in moving the team beyond simple code-completion to a fully automated, agentic development environment. They will bridge the gap between traditional software craftsmanship and modern AI-accelerated delivery, serving as a coach, mentor, and technical lead.

The Role

• Senior Engineer / Lead Engineer
• Capable of operating both as a senior individual and as an engineering lead of a team of 3-5

Location

• Somerville, MA
• Currently eligible to work a hybrid schedule however, must be willing to work full-time in office if requirements change
• Periodic trips to the client’s office in Burlington, MA is required

AI Enablement

• Experience with AI-forward SDLC processes
• Able and excited to teach best practices to team members
• Mentorship & Coaching: Conduct workshops, pair programming sessions, and "AI Office Hours" to help senior and junior engineers overcome hesitation and build proficiency

Experience

• 5+ years software development
• 2+ years of hands-on experience using AI coding assistants in high-scale production environments.
• An understanding of prompt engineering for complex refactoring and architectural design
• 2+ years people leadership experience
• Financial Services / Investment Management experience helpful but not required

Project Technologies

• AI: Technologies Co-pilot, Blitzy
• Messaging: Confluent Kafka, Event Streams, Avro/Protobuf
• APIs: gRPC (Internal), REST/JSON (External)
• Data Storage: Event Store, PostgreSQL + Citus (Relational), Snowflake (Warehousing), Redis (In-memory)
• Platform: Kubernetes (Application-level integration)
• Language(s): Java
