Senior L2 Infra Engineer

Summary of the position’s Responsibilities

The Senior L2 Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for providing advanced technical support for infrastructure-related incidents and service requests. This role acts as a bridge between Level 1 support and engineering teams, ensuring the stability, performance, and security of core IT systems. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills, a deep understanding of infrastructure technologies, and experience working in fast-paced, regulated environments.

Responsibilities

Incident & Problem Management

• Respond to and resolve escalated infrastructure issues from L1 support.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions.
• Collaborate with L3 engineers and vendors for complex issue resolution.

Infrastructure Operations

• Monitor and maintain servers, storage, network devices, and cloud (Azure) infrastructure.
• Perform routine maintenance, patching, and upgrades across systems and support managed services supplier.
• Support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity operations.
• Daily operations maintenance scripts for preventive maintenance and reporting

Automation & Scripting

• Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) to automate routine tasks.
• Assist in the deployment and configuration of infrastructure using IaC tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).

Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., ISO 27001, PCI-DSS).
• Participate in audits and provide technical evidence as needed.

Collaboration & Mentorship

• Work closely with application support, DevOps, and security teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
• Participate in change management and release planning processes.

Experience and Skills

• 4+ years of experience in IT infrastructure support or systems administration.
• Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux servers, virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), and networking.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid environments.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds) and ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).
• Familiarity with FinTech or banking compliance standards is highly desirable.

Education and Certifications

• 4-year Information Science/ Information Technology/ Computer Science/ Engineering (or related) Degree
• Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Certification Foundation or Expert v3 / Managing Professional/Master (Preferred)
• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (for Azure Stack)
• Oracle Certified Professional – Oracle Linux or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect
• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
• VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) (if HPE uses VMware)
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) (for RKE pods)
