Role Description

We are seeking an AI Governance Lead to join our Data Governance team. This role will be pivotal in shaping, implementing, and maintaining our organization’s approach to AI governance, ensuring responsible, compliant, and efficient use of AI technologies across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will have expertise in AI policy, data governance, prompt engineering oversight, and vendor tool evaluation, ensuring that AI initiatives are aligned with business objectives, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

AI Governance & Policy Development

  • Develop, implement, and maintain enterprise-wide AI governance frameworks, policies, and standards in alignment with legal, ethical, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Establish guidelines for prompt engineering practices, ensuring accuracy, fairness, security, and compliance in AI-generated outputs.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for AI governance, providing consultation to business units on responsible AI usage.

Data Governance for AI Systems

  • Ensure data integrity, quality, and compliance for datasets used by AI models, including governance between AI agents and human-in-the-loop processes.
  • Collaborate with Data Governance, Security, and Privacy teams to enforce data classification, retention, and access control policies in AI workflows.
  • Monitor and manage data-sharing protocols between AI agents, external systems, and third-party integrations.

AI Usage Oversight & Risk Management

  • Define standards for evaluating the appropriateness of AI tools for various projects.
  • Conduct risk assessments of AI deployments, including bias detection, explainability, and ethical implications.
  • Review AI-generated outputs for adherence to business, security, and compliance requirements.

Vendor & Tool Evaluation

  • Lead the evaluation, testing, and approval process for new AI-powered vendor tools, automation solutions, and market innovations.
  • Establish testing protocols and acceptance criteria for AI vendor products before enterprise rollout.
  • Continuously monitor emerging AI tools and trends, recommending adoption or deprecation strategies.

Stakeholder Engagement & Training

  • Partner with cross-functional teams (IT, Legal, Compliance, Product, and Operations) to ensure alignment of AI governance policies with business needs.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for employees on responsible AI usage, prompt engineering best practices, and governance processes.
  • Communicate complex AI governance principles to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Technical Skills

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Governance, AI Ethics, or related field.
  • Familiarity or experience with Google Agent Space and Microsoft 365 Pilot.
  • 7+ years of experience in data governance, AI governance, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts, prompt engineering principles, and automation tools.
  • Experience developing and implementing governance frameworks for emerging technologies.
  • Proven track record in vendor evaluation, proof-of-concepts, and tool testing.
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA) and AI ethics guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree or certifications in AI Governance, Data Governance, or AI Ethics.
  • Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) and agent-based AI architectures.
  • Hands-on experience in AI model testing and performance evaluation.
  • Knowledge of regulatory trends in AI oversight and industry best practices.
