Senior Linux BSP Software Engineer

About Kforce's client, a growing, up and coming engineering technology company located in Tustin, CA, is hiring a Senior Linux BSP Software Engineer to support the design and development of next generation medical devices. We're working directly with the hiring manager on this search.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop Embedded Linux BSPs from requirements through deployment
• Perform initial board bring up and customize boards from scratch
• Customize and maintain Linux kernel, bootloader, and Yocto build systems
• Develop device drivers, applications, and validation utilities
• Support legacy/EOL hardware and resolve OS and kernel level issues
• Collaborate with hardware teams on new platform development
• Improve system performance, stability, security, and scalability

Requirements

• B.S. or higher in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• 3-15+ years of embedded software development in C
• Strong experience with Embedded Linux BSPs and board bring up
• Deep hands on experience with Yocto/OpenEmbedded (required)
• Linux kernel and bootloader development experience
• Solid understanding of OS fundamentals, hardware I/O, and system level debugging
• Ability to read schematics and component datasheets
• Wi Fi/Bluetooth experience a plus

Proven ability to build and customize Yocto from scratch, including:

• Custom meta layers
• Machine configurations (.conf)
• Kernel and bootloader recipes
