About the role

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Linux Cloud Storage Engineer / Architect to lead the design, engineering, and strategic direction of enterprise Linux, storage, virtualization, and hybrid cloud environments. This is a highly technical, engineering-focused role requiring deep expertise in Red Hat Linux architecture, cloud infrastructure, and large-scale production environments.

The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on engineering and architecture experience supporting enterprise platforms currently running 600+ virtual machines, with planned growth to approximately 2,000 systems.

Key Responsibilities

Platform Strategy & Architecture

  • Define and evolve enterprise Linux, storage, and virtualization strategy aligned with business, security, and regulatory requirements
  • Establish architectural standards, design principles, and reference implementations for on-premises, hybrid, and cloud platforms
  • Lead infrastructure modernization initiatives, including automation, software-defined infrastructure, and hybrid cloud adoption
  • Guide platform decisions with focus on licensing, cost optimization, scalability, and long-term supportability

Linux & Systems Leadership

  • Own the enterprise Linux platform roadmap across Red Hat and Oracle Linux ecosystems
  • Establish governance and best practices for system builds, lifecycle management, patching, and configuration consistency
  • Serve as escalation point for complex system issues, leading root cause analysis and remediation strategies
  • Ensure system capacity, performance, and availability meet business needs

Storage & Data Platform Direction

  • Lead design and evolution of enterprise storage solutions across SAN, NAS, and software-defined storage platforms
  • Define backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and data protection strategies
  • Evaluate emerging storage technologies and vendor solutions
  • Partner with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure platform alignment

Automation, Orchestration & Reliability

  • Champion infrastructure automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles
  • Define standards for orchestration, configuration management, and repeatable deployments
  • Drive reliability, resiliency, and operational efficiency improvements through proactive tooling and design

Stakeholder Engagement & Business Partnership

  • Act as senior technical advisor to business units across the Americas
  • Translate technical concepts into actionable guidance for non-technical stakeholders
  • Lead testing initiatives and present risks, recommendations, and outcomes clearly
  • Provide transparent communication during incidents, changes, and major initiatives

Leadership, Mentorship & Collaboration

  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers while fostering technical growth
  • Promote accountability, documentation, and continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with application, cloud, network, security, and operations teams
  • Drive alignment across distributed and multicultural teams

Vendor & Partner Management

  • Manage technical relationships with infrastructure and cloud vendors
  • Evaluate new technologies and provide recommendations based on business value
  • Coordinate vendor escalations, lifecycle planning, and roadmap alignment

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of enterprise infrastructure experience in Linux, storage, virtualization, and data center environments
  • Senior/lead-level experience influencing platform strategy and technical standards
  • Deep expertise in Red Hat Linux 8/9 and Oracle Linux / OLVM
  • Strong experience with storage technologies including SAN, NAS, SDS, backup, and recovery platforms
  • Experience with VMware, Azure Hybrid Cloud, Windows, and HPE Synergy composable infrastructure
  • Hands-on experience with automation frameworks such as Ansible and IaC
  • Strong problem-solving and risk-based decision-making skills

  • Travel: 30–50% across North and South America
