We are working with a leading company in the pharmaceutical and medical technology space, developing advanced diagnostic systems and digital health solutions.

For their engineering team in Central Switzerland, we are looking for a Senior Linux Platform Engineer to take ownership of a custom Debian-based Linux platform powering next-generation medical devices.

This role sits at the core of system architecture, covering everything from kernel-level work to application integration, with a strong focus on performance, security, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve a custom Debian-based Linux platform
• Customize kernel, integrate drivers, and manage system packages
• Build and optimize build, test, and release pipelines
• Act as escalation point for complex system-level issues
• Perform deep debugging and root-cause analysis
• Support and guide internal development teams
• Drive continuous improvements in performance, security, and automation

Requirements

• 10+ years of hands-on Linux engineering experience across the full stack
• Strong experience building and maintaining custom Linux distributions (ideally Debian-based)
• Deep expertise in Debian packaging (.deb) and lifecycle management
• Strong Python and Shell scripting skills
• Solid understanding of OS fundamentals (processes, memory, filesystems)
• Experience with build systems (Make, CMake) and release pipelines
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
• Fluent English

Nice to Have

• Experience with C or C++
• Background in embedded systems / ARM / drivers
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, KVM, CI/CD, Terraform
• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms
• German is a plus
