Senior Linux System Engineer

Introduction & Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Linux System Engineer with a special focus on Debian and IT security. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in operating and securing critical Linux systems. Key skills include in-depth knowledge of Linux system administration, hardening, and scripting, complemented by fluent communication skills in German.

Main Responsibilities

The Senior Linux System Engineer will be responsible for the secure operation of Linux systems. Tasks include:

• Operation of security-critical Linux systems (focus on Debian)
• Configuration and security of Linux services
• Implementation of hardening measures according to strict specifications
• Working with authentication and authorization systems
• Scripting with Bash / Shell
• Support with security-relevant documentation

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as a Linux Administrator / Engineer
• Very good Debian knowledge
• Experience with Linux hardening and security baselines
• Very good German language skills (min. C1)

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of other Linux distributions
• Experience with container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge in network security
