Day to Day

In the role of Senior Machine Learning Software Engineer on the Machine Learning Model Platform team, you will lead pivotal initiatives that enhance our Matching and Recommendation systems, the ML model training portal, and more. Your mission will be to design and create high-performance, reusable components that empower hundreds of machine learning practitioners to move effectively from research to impactful production, covering the entire lifecycle of ML models.

You will work at the convergence of software engineering and machine learning, creating foundational components that enable a variety of ML model strategies while ensuring top performance and scalability. Close collaboration with Data Scientists will be crucial to understand their needs, drive technical designs, optimize workflows, and contribute significantly to their key objectives. Your expertise will be pivotal in evolving our technology stack to be at the forefront of industry advancements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and continuous improvement of complex systems and frameworks.
• Guide technical decision-making, prioritizing immediate deliverables alongside long-term maintainability and scalability.
• Architect innovative solutions, assess trade-offs, and validate concepts through prototyping and iterating on existing systems.
• Participate in and shape code and design reviews across teams to maintain exemplary engineering standards.
• Identify areas for performance, reliability, and scalability enhancements and implement improvements to current systems.
• Mentor fellow engineers, fostering technical growth and best practices across teams.
• Communicate effectively with engineers, product managers, and business partners to ensure alignment on technical direction and execution.

Skills/Competencies

• A minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics; or 6 years with a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years of experience; equivalent experience may substitute for degree requirements.
• Proficient in Python and familiar with modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch and Triton.
• Experience with AWS SageMaker or other cloud-based ML platforms.
• Strong background in software design, data structures, algorithms, and computer science principles.
• Experience in designing, building, and maintaining scalable and reliable software systems or platforms.
• Proven ownership and accountability for technical outcomes and system quality.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities, capable of influencing technical direction across teams.

Salary Range Transparency

• Tier 1 - 140,000 - 210,000 USD per year
• Tier 2 - 155,000 - 233,000 USD per year
• Tier 3 - 171,000 - 257,000 USD per year
• Tier 5 - 195,000 - 293,000 USD per year
