Senior Manager: DevOps and Cloud Engineer

We are searching for an experienced Senior Manager: DevOps and Cloud Engineer at our Capital Hill Sandton facility.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

Job Purpose:

The main purpose of the role is to drive efficiency, innovation, and strategic alignment within the organization's DevOps and cloud services. By overseeing the entire lifecycle of DevOps and cloud operations, this role ensures that technology initiatives contribute to the organization's success, while also addressing challenges related to quality, security, and resource optimization.

Key Responsibilities

Team Management

• Provide visionary leadership to the DevOps and cloud services teams, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture. • Mentor and coach team members, promoting professional growth and skill enhancement. • Efficiently allocate team resources to optimize workflow and meet project deadlines. • Conduct regular performance assessments, offering constructive feedback and implementing improvement plans as needed. • Collaborate with HR to identify and attract top talent for the DevOps and cloud services teams. • Lead the onboarding process for new team members, ensuring a seamless integration into the team and organization. • Proactively address conflicts within the teams, promoting a positive and collaborative work environment. • Implement effective conflict resolution strategies to maintain cohesive and motivated teams. • Facilitate regular knowledge-sharing sessions to ensure best practices are disseminated and adopted. • Encourage a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Strategy Formation and Implementation

• Collaborate with key stakeholders to define and refine the DevOps & Cloud strategy aligned with overall business objectives. • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to inform the evolution of the DevOps & cloud strategy. • Develop detailed implementation plans for DevOps & Cloud initiatives, considering timelines, resource requirements, and potential challenges. • Ensure alignment of DevOps & Cloud initiatives with the organization's strategic goals. • Establish metrics and KPIs and department objectives to measure the effectiveness of DevOps & cloud processes. • Continuously assess and refine strategies based on performance data and industry developments

Budgeting, Policies and Procedures Development

• Collaborate with finance executives, and relevant stakeholders to develop and manage the DevOps & cloud budget. • Ensure efficient use of resources and adherence to financial guidelines. • Develop and enforce DevOps & Cloud policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance within the business. • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal clients and stakeholders to understand their DevOps and cloud service needs and deliver solutions that meet expectations • Regularly review and update policies to align with industry best practices and organizational needs.

Internal Client Relationship Management

• Collaborate with finance and relevant stakeholders to develop and manage the DevOps budget. • Ensure efficient use of resources and adherence to financial guidelines. • Develop and enforce DevOps policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance. • Regularly review and update policies to align with industry best practices and organizational needs

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in DevOps & Cloud, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role. • Demonstrated success in leading and managing DevOps & cloud teams in complex, enterprise level environments. • Proven experience in implementing and optimizing DevOps & cloud processes and pipelines.
