The Senior Manager, Software Engineering will ensure we are able to:

  • Increase delivery velocity without increasing risk
  • Scale teams and systems predictably

  • Maintain high engineering standards in a regulated environment

What You Will Lead

  • Multiple product-aligned teams across different

  • Delivery execution, technical quality, and operational ownership for everything your teams ship

Core Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership & Delivery

  • Own end-to-end delivery execution across multiple teams and domains
  • Drive predictable planning, estimation, and execution
  • Maintain high standards for code quality, production readiness, and maintainability
  • Partner with Product on what and why, while retaining authority over how
  • Actively reduce architectural coupling and technical debt
  • Ensure teams own:
    • On-call participation
    • Post-incident remediation

AI‑Augmented Engineering

You are expected to treat AI as a first-class productivity lever, not an experiment.

Drive adoption of enterprise-approved AI coding assistants to:

  • Reduce boilerplate and repetitive coding
  • Accelerate refactoring and modernization
  • Improve test scaffolding and coverage
  • Improve code comprehension and onboarding

Establish clear standards for AI-assisted development:

  • Encourage scaffolding, refactors, test generation, documentation
  • Mandatory human review for: business logic, security-sensitive code
  • Ensure AI is integrated into IDE, PR, and CI/CD workflows in a governed, auditable way
  • Partner with Platform and Security leaders to ensure AI usage meets:
    • Privacy requirements
    • Security standards
    • Auditability expectations

AI is an accelerator — you remain accountable for outcomes, quality, and risk.

Operational Ownership

  • Ensure teams support what they ship
  • Own code-level root cause resolution for production incidents
  • Use incident data to drive systemic improvements

Deliver predictable engineering outcomes without increasing risk

KPIs You Own (Trend-Based)

  • Delivery predictability (% of commitments delivered)
  • Lead time from commit → production
  • Production defect rate
  • Code health / technical debt trend
  • PR review turnaround time
  • Engineering engagement and retention

AI-Related Outcomes

  • Reduced lead time and onboarding time without increased defects
  • Measurable reduction in low-value manual engineering work
  • Stable or improved quality as throughput increases

Improving these trends over time is a core performance expectation.

What You Bring

  • 12+ years in software engineering with significant people leadership experience
  • Proven experience leading Team Leads or Managers
  • Strong technical grounding in modern web and backend systems
  • Experience delivering cloud-native systems on AWS, including serverless patterns
  • Comfort operating in regulated, high-availability environments
  • Strong data-driven leadership mindset (metrics over anecdotes)

Technical Experience

  • JavaScript / TypeScript ecosystems (Vue, Next, Node.js)
  • Exposure to Drupal / PHP in CMS-heavy platforms
  • CI/CD and IaC experience:
    • Terraform
    • AWS SAM
    • AWS Amplify
    • GitLab pipelines
  • Observability mindset (metrics, logs, traces)
  • Hands-on experience rolling out AI coding assistants in production teams
