What we offer
The Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer will lead the development and continuous improvement of standardized work instructions for all of SAMI's modular housing products. Initial processes will be developed by recording single‑station prototype builds in our Mississauga factory. These processes will then be used to design SAMI's first module assembly factories. This role offers the rare opportunity to lead process development from initial product introduction through production ramp‑up and ultimately into steady‑state production.
What you'll do
- Collaborate with sales and design teams to develop manufacturable and efficient product designs and agree upon production capacities to satisfy customer demand.
- Lead the development of standardized work instructions and determine product throughput times by recording single‑station prototype builds.
- Collaborate with facilities, logistics, and equipment engineering team members to source and assess manufacturing facilities and equipment.
- Set up new manufacturing facilities and lead the training of production team members on standardized work instructions.
- Lead the analysis of production data and collaboration with production team members to identify, prioritize, and execute continuous improvements in the safety, quality, productivity, cost, and sustainability of production.
- Other duties as required.
What you bring
- Degree or diploma in industrial or mechanical engineering, or another related field, as well as a P.Eng. designation
- 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience developing standardized work instructions for new product introductions.
- Experience training production team members on standardized work instructions.
- Proficiency in CAD (CATIA, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD).
- Strong Excel skills and working knowledge of at least one data analysis or visualization tool (Power BI, Python, SQL, or similar).
- Strong project management, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
Bonus Points
- Lean Six Sigma and PMP designations are assets.
- Background in large‑scale wood product manufacturing or residential construction is an asset.
Compensation
The expected base salary range for this position is $85,000 – $130,000. Actual pay may vary depending on your job‑related knowledge, competencies, and skills. We recognize that exceptional situations may fall outside of this range, and we encourage all interested applicants to apply.
