A leading engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its growing Mission Critical practice, supporting large-scale hyperscale data center and high-performance infrastructure projects. This role sits within a specialized, design-focused team, offering the agility of a smaller group with the backing of a global engineering platform.

This is an ideal opportunity for a client-facing engineer who can lead technical delivery while also contributing to business development and client relationship management. The position offers remote flexibility for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of HVAC and mechanical systems for hyperscale data center and mission critical facilities
  • Manage projects from concept through construction, ensuring alignment on quality, schedule, and budget
  • Perform and oversee: Load calculations, System sizing and equipment selection, Mechanical system layouts and design documentation
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, structural, architectural)
  • Serve as a primary client contact, leading meetings and presenting technical solutions
  • Contribute to business development efforts, including supporting proposals, client presentations, and identifying opportunities for growth
  • Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers
  • Ensure designs align with reliability, redundancy, and performance standards associated with mission critical environments

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience
  • 5+ years of mission critical or data center project experience
  • Strong expertise in HVAC design for critical facilities
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects and engaging with clients
  • Track record of contributing to project pursuits or client development efforts
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
  • PE license preferred (or ability to obtain)

Deep understanding of:

  • Data center cooling strategies (air- and liquid-cooled systems)
  • Redundancy approaches (N, N+1, 2N) and uptime requirements
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to balance technical execution with client-facing responsibilities
  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth environments
