Aplin is partnering with a leading industrial manufacturer to recruit a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the execution of nuclear and critical fabrication projects. This is a hands‑on role within a regulated environment where engineering decisions directly impact fabrication, compliance, and delivery.

This position requires a technically strong engineer who can operate with a high degree of independence in a code‑driven, audit‑ready environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical engineering execution for nuclear fabrication projects
  • Develop and review fabrication drawings, calculations, and engineering packages
  • Ensure compliance with ASME Section III, Section VIII, CSA, and customer specifications
  • Support technical estimating, quoting, and risk evaluation
  • Provide engineering support throughout manufacturing
  • Participate in design reviews, audits, and inspections
  • Resolve shop‑floor technical issues and deviations in real time
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and production
  • Mentoring and providing guidance to junior engineers

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation — required
  • 10–15 years of experience in:
    • Nuclear manufacturing
    • Pressure vessel fabrication
    • Heavy industrial or engineered‑to‑order environments
  • Strong, working knowledge of:
    • ASME codes (Section III and Section VIII)
    • Fabrication and welding processes
    • Manufacturing environments and shop‑floor execution
  • Proven ability to:
    • Work effectively in a regulated, compliance‑driven environment
    • Produce clear, accurate, and audit‑ready technical documentation
    • Communicate effectively across engineering, quality, and production teams

Role Context

This is not a design‑only role. The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with fabrication teams, support projects from engineering through manufacturing and delivery, and operate in a fast‑paced environment with limited ramp‑up time.

Only candidates currently based in Canada with unrestricted Canadian work authorization will be considered. No sponsorship is available for this position.
