Your Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer/Team Lead, you will play a critical role in guiding a team of engineers and designers, ensuring high-quality delivery of mechanical services and solutions. This position demands advanced engineering expertise, ability to supervise projects, and a focus on cost, schedule, and quality performance.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the mechanical engineering deliverables, ensuring adherence to design and drafting standards.
- Engage with project specifications and design criteria to efficiently navigate project tasks.
- Provide on-site support during project startup phases.
- Conduct stress analysis, develop construction specifications, and oversee material procurement specifications.
- Create conceptual layouts and cost studies to optimize engineering solutions.
- Prepare detailed design calculations and sketches to facilitate the drafting process.
- Resolve layout and detailing challenges alongside the drafting team.
- Collaborate with design leaders from various disciplines to ensure project coherence.
- Review vendor and discipline drawings for technical accuracy.
- Design efficient construction materials that meet client expectations.
- Ensure accuracy of calculations from other engineers and provide checks in line with codes and specifications.
- Advise on necessary design or scope changes promptly.
- Assist in compiling engineering scopes and specifications for procurement inquiries.
- Develop and review fabrication and construction specifications.
- Gather field data and provide necessary construction support through fieldwork.
- Mentor junior drafting and engineering personnel, fostering their growth and development.
- Implement advanced engineering techniques and communicate design changes effectively.
- Manage project tasks effectively, estimating and coordinating team efforts to meet deadlines.
Who You Are
Education
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution is required.
Registration
Professional Engineering registration is highly preferred.
Experience
You should possess at least 15 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of design standards and codes.
- Proficient in the application and specification of piping materials.
- Experience in developing piping specifications and performing flexibility analysis.
- Ability to design complex piping systems and size both compressible and incompressible fluid piping.
- Capable of managing the design of manual valves and piping supports.
- Understand the application of safety devices for piping systems.
- Adept at estimating construction quantities and scheduling project timelines.
- Familiarity with CAD drafting standards and engineering practices.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to guide teams effectively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
