WhatJobs Direct is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Operations Engineer for our client, a leading telecommunications provider. This hybrid role, based in **Ibadan, Oyo, NG**, offers a dynamic environment where you will manage and maintain the integrity of the company's vast network infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring optimal network performance, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing network upgrades and security measures. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in network engineering, deep knowledge of routing protocols, and a commitment to maintaining high availability and reliability across the telecommunications network.
Key Responsibilities: Monitor network performance and availability using advanced network management tools. Diagnose and resolve complex network issues, including connectivity, performance, and security problems, in a timely manner. Implement and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers. Configure and manage various routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP. Ensure the security of the network by implementing and managing firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems. Plan and execute network upgrades and enhancements to improve performance and capacity. Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and troubleshooting guides. Respond to network alerts and incidents, providing on-call support as needed. Collaborate with other IT teams, vendors, and service providers to ensure seamless network operations. Participate in capacity planning and network architecture design discussions. Implement and manage network monitoring solutions to proactively identify potential issues. Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for network operations and security. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 8 years of experience in network operations and engineering. Proven experience with large-scale enterprise or service provider networks. In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), switching technologies, and network security principles. Hands-on experience with network hardware from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Huawei). Proficiency in network troubleshooting tools and methodologies. Experience with network monitoring and management systems (e.g., SolarWinds, Nagios). Strong understanding of telecommunications network architectures and technologies. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a hybrid team environment. Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, or JNCIE are highly desirable.
