About the role
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Security Engineer to join their remote team. This is a critical role focused on designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network security infrastructure to protect sensitive data and systems. As a fully remote employee, you will work collaboratively with IT teams globally to ensure the highest standards of network security are upheld. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in network protocols, security technologies, threat analysis, and incident response.
Key Responsibilities: Design, implement, and manage firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and other security measures. Develop and enforce network security policies, procedures, and best practices. Monitor network traffic for security threats and anomalies; investigate and respond to security incidents in a timely and effective manner. Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and remediate security weaknesses. Configure and maintain security devices and software, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of network security architecture, configurations, and procedures. Collaborate with system administrators and application developers to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of the IT infrastructure. Provide technical guidance and support to junior security team members. Stay current with the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques. Participate in security audits and compliance initiatives. Develop and deliver security awareness training to employees. Contribute to the overall IT security strategy and roadmap. Manage relationships with security vendors and service providers. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCNA Security, or CompTIA Security+ are highly desirable. Minimum of 7 years of experience in network security engineering, with a proven track record in designing and managing secure network environments. Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP networking, routing protocols, and network security principles. Hands-on experience with various security technologies, including firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Fortinet), IDS/IPS, SIEM solutions, and endpoint security. Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting network devices (routers, switches) from major vendors. Strong understanding of encryption technologies, authentication protocols, and vulnerability management. Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly. Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively in a remote setting. This fully remote position offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
