Our client, a leading telecommunications provider in Nigeria, is seeking an experienced Senior Network Security Engineer to join their IT and Security division in Benin City, Edo, NG. This hybrid role requires a strong presence in the office for critical infrastructure management and hands‑on security operations, with flexibility for remote work on specific tasks and projects. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust network security solutions to protect the company's critical infrastructure, services, and customer data from cyber threats. Your duties will include configuring and managing firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDPS), VPNs, and other security devices. You will conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing to identify and remediate security weaknesses. The role involves monitoring network traffic for suspicious activities, responding to security incidents, and developing incident response plans. You will also contribute to the development and enforcement of security policies and procedures, ensure compliance with industry security standards, and stay abreast of emerging threats and security technologies. The ideal candidate will possess in‑depth knowledge of network protocols, security architectures, and various security tools and technologies. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills are essential for diagnosing and resolving complex security issues. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are required to work effectively with internal IT teams, business units, and potentially external security vendors. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
  • Respond to and investigate security incidents, developing mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant security regulations and best practices.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to integrate security into network operations.
  • Evaluate and recommend new security technologies and solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior security staff.
  • Manage security logs and conduct forensic analysis when required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in network security engineering, preferably within the telecommunications industry.
  • Proven expertise in configuring and managing security appliances (e.g., Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, Fortinet).
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, and network architecture.
  • Experience with SIEM tools, vulnerability scanners, and penetration testing methodologies.
  • Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCNA Security, CompTIA Security+) are highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a hybrid team.
  • Demonstrated experience in incident response and handling.
