Our client, a dynamic leader in the power generation and distribution sector, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Power Systems Electrical Engineer to join their fully remote engineering department. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical infrastructure projects and grid modernization initiatives from the convenience of your home office, supporting operations related to Enugu, Enugu, NG. You will be responsible for the design, analysis, and optimization of complex electrical power systems.

Responsibilities

• Performing load flow studies, short circuit analysis, stability analysis, and protection coordination studies for generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
• Developing and reviewing technical specifications for power system equipment, including transformers, switchgear, generators, and protection relays.
• Designing and implementing advanced control and automation systems for power grids.
• Troubleshooting and resolving complex power system issues, conducting root cause analysis for outages, and proposing effective solutions.
• Collaborating with project managers, site engineers, and external stakeholders to ensure successful project execution and integration of new facilities into the existing grid.
• Contributing to the development of long‑term grid expansion plans and technology roadmaps, staying abreast of emerging trends in smart grid technologies, renewable energy integration, and energy storage solutions.
• Experience with power system simulation software such as PSS/E, ETAP, or PowerFactory DIgSILENT is essential.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent (highly desirable).
• Minimum of 7‑10 years of experience in power system analysis, design, and operations.
• Strong knowledge of power system fundamentals, protection principles, and grid codes.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work fully remote with exceptional self‑management, proactivity, and effectiveness in a distributed team environment.
• Experience with large‑scale utility projects or independent power producer (IPP) environments would be advantageous.
