Senior Power Systems Engineer

A prominent engineering firm in Cape Town, Western Cape, ZA , is looking for an experienced Senior Power Systems Engineer to lead critical projects in the renewable energy sector. This role demands a highly competent professional with a proven track record in the design, analysis, and implementation of complex power systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of electrical infrastructure for a variety of clients. Key responsibilities include conducting power flow, short-circuit, and stability analyses; designing protection schemes and coordinating relays; developing single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, and control logic; performing site visits for system diagnostics and commissioning; collaborating with cross-functional teams, including project managers, civil engineers, and procurement specialists; and ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in Power Systems. A minimum of 7 years of experience in power system engineering is required, with demonstrated experience in grid-connected systems and renewable energy integration (solar, wind). Proficiency in industry-standard software such as PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD, or similar is essential. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are crucial for this position. Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA will be a significant advantage.
