GFT is searching for a skilled Senior Principal Civil / Structural Engineer to enhance our dynamic team. This position operates under a hybrid work model, which includes regular attendance at our Roseville, CA office.

Your Primary Responsibilities

In this role, you will play a vital part in the design and construction of critical infrastructure projects in the California foothills and mountains. These projects encompass levees, canals, flumes, dams, spillways, and solutions to ensure California's water supply needs are met. As a Senior Principal Engineer, you will oversee both technical and business aspects and may provide advanced technical guidance on major complex projects. Essential expertise includes dam and levee safety, foundation design, seismic evaluation, and structural analysis.

  • Define project scope, resources, schedules, and budgets for major initiatives.
  • Lead the design and execution of significant projects independently.
  • Manage multidisciplinary project teams and subcontractors for major projects.
  • Apply comprehensive engineering principles to evaluate and select techniques and analyses.
  • Provide construction support, including bid assistance, construction observation, and project closeout.
  • Ensure project documents adhere to quality standards through thorough reviews.
  • Engage in business development to grow client relationships and identify new opportunities.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for project capture and implementation.
  • Build and sustain relationships with clients, understanding their needs and expectations.
  • Develop and mentor a high-performing technical team to deliver outstanding results.
  • Create and implement innovative techniques and processes.
  • Lead project meetings and present engineering assignments effectively.
  • Represent our organization at engineering conferences and communications.
  • Delegate tasks and guide junior staff and technicians.
  • Provide training on specialty software and proprietary tools.
  • Support senior management in executing business programs and managing organizational initiatives.

Qualifications You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in civil and geotechnical engineering.
  • Experience in project management across multidisciplinary teams and business development.
  • Professional Engineering license in California, or a state that has reciprocal agreements with California.
  • Deep knowledge of civil/structural engineering principles and best practices.
  • Expertise in reviewing and preparing plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Office applications, and relevant engineering software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Structural Engineering license in California.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $140,000 - $180,000, contingent on experience and location.
