About the Role of Industrial Engineering at Cardinal Health
As part of the Engineering team at Cardinal Health, you will play a vital role in conducting research and analysis to create design options for components, products, systems, and processes. Our Industrial Engineering team focuses on enhancing and developing processes, layouts, and tools to identify, analyze, and implement new or existing technologies for optimizing business operations. You will design process improvements aimed at reducing costs and cycle times while enhancing quality and throughput. Moreover, you will lead external resources and contractors as needed.
The Senior Principal Industrial Engineer will support Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Operations in capital project planning and management, capacity planning, operational process change, and optimizing the overall layout of distribution centers. This role will involve deploying new processes and automation solutions, facilitating new building designs, and managing layout changes. You will partner closely with Operations leaders to direct capital project investments for Pharma Supply Chain Operations, ensuring project implementations effectively realize performance improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and innovate process engineering initiatives, including conceptual operational designs, layout adjustments, and advanced automation solutions. Collaborate closely with business operations partners to refine solutions that optimize operational results while incorporating modernization concepts in material handling and engineering via external partnerships.
- Work in partnership with senior management in Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Operations to oversee capital projects within operational facilities. This includes developing capital budgets, establishing preliminary budget frameworks, and formalizing capital requests for approved and newly defined projects.
- Guide multifunctional teams and stakeholders in executing large, complex projects on schedule and within budget. Ensure alignment and coordination with various functions including Corporate Real Estate, field operations, Security, Information Technology, Inventory, Quality & Regulatory, Sales, and EH&S throughout the project lifecycle.
- Employee integrated teams working alongside operations leadership to ensure effective deployment and management of capital projects and infrastructure to meet building performance standards. Additionally, manage and execute small construction projects independently of Corporate Real Estate/Construction, including all necessary upgrades for expansion or relocation.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience
- 4-6 years of experience in operations, project and budget management, capital investment analysis, and leading complex projects with multifunctional teams
- Experience with automation solutions, facility design, material handling systems, and integrated warehouse control applications
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and other software tools to drive warehouse design
- Strong leadership abilities, organizational skills, and scheduling expertise
- Excellent technical problem-solving skills
- A high level of initiative; a collaborative team player
- Effective and open communicator
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to travel to other facilities for project oversight and equipment installation (25%, potentially up to 50% during specific deployment activities)

Compensation and Benefits
- Anticipated Salary Range: $94,900 - $135,600
