Senior Process Development Engineer

Our client, a leading innovator in chemical manufacturing, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Process Development Engineer to join their dynamic team in Bloemfontein, Free State, ZA . The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical understanding of chemical engineering principles coupled with practical experience in process design, scale-up, and troubleshooting. You will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of chemical processes, ensuring efficiency, safety, and sustainability. This includes conducting feasibility studies, developing process simulations, and preparing detailed engineering reports. You will also collaborate closely with research and development teams to translate laboratory discoveries into viable commercial processes. A significant part of your role will involve optimizing existing production lines to improve yield, reduce waste, and enhance product quality. This requires a data-driven approach, utilizing statistical analysis and process monitoring tools. You will also be involved in pilot plant trials, analyzing performance data, and making recommendations for full-scale implementation. Furthermore, you will ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, environmental regulations, and safety protocols, proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks. The role demands strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, and the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering is required, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience. Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and a proven track record in project management are highly desirable.
