About the role

Our client, a leading industrial firm, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Process Engineer to join their innovative team based in **Calabar, Cross River, NG**. This role is crucial for optimizing existing manufacturing processes and developing new ones to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in mechanical engineering and a proven track record in process improvement within a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and optimize industrial processes and equipment to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality. Analyze existing manufacturing processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement innovative solutions. Develop process flow diagrams, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and detailed engineering specifications. Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for new process technologies and equipment. Troubleshoot process-related issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and waste. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, production, quality control, and maintenance, to ensure seamless integration and operation of processes. Develop and implement process safety management (PSM) protocols and ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations. Monitor process performance, collect and analyze data, and generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs). Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff. Stay updated with the latest advancements in process engineering technologies and methodologies. Manage process engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets. Participate in the commissioning and startup of new equipment and process lines. Develop and deliver training materials for operators and technicians on new or modified processes. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in process engineering, preferably within a manufacturing or heavy industry setting. Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and mass transfer principles. Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and CAD tools. Expertise in P&ID development and interpretation. Thorough knowledge of process safety principles and hazard analysis techniques (e.g., HAZOP). Proven ability to troubleshoot complex process issues and implement effective solutions. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams. Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus. Professional Engineer (PE) registration or equivalent is desirable.
