Senior Product Designer, LearnWith.AI (Remote) - $200,000/year USD

Crossover

Remote · UAE Senior $200k – $200k/yr Yesterday

About the role

Overview

You'll be joining a learning model that has already demonstrated measurable results at Alpha School. LearnWithAI powers the platform, scaling rapidly across the US and internationally. Students complete their core academic work in two hours daily and score in the top national percentiles. The approach is validated. What's needed now is someone who thinks constantly about the people using it. You'll establish design excellence, create the standards, and shape the function. Your scope includes our learning platform and its related learning applications, serving varied audiences both within and outside Alpha.

A five-year-old who hasn't learned to read yet navigates a counting system that must make discovery feel effortless and engaging. A teenager performing two grades below level is restoring self‑belief after repeated setbacks, where a single unclear interaction could undermine progress. A parent gains visibility into their child's actual learning journey. That transparency reduces worry and empowers them to provide meaningful support. An academic coach overseeing a multi‑age classroom requires insight into progress without information overload. You must understand each user deeply enough to design meaningfully different solutions for each context.

Your role centers on the experience layer: conduct thorough research into each audience, translate findings into actionable design principles engineers can implement directly, and deliver code‑ready outputs that launch immediately, not conceptual mockups awaiting approval. You collaborate with product leaders accountable for outcomes and engineers responsible for delivery. You challenge requests that compromise user experience. You own the complete process. You'll leverage AI to accelerate iteration and expand capacity, but your judgment—not the model's initial output—determines what launches. Primary focus remains our education platform, with selective projects in additional domains.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Conduct user research across distinctly different audiences and develop design principles that reflect that understanding
  • Create and maintain design systems within each product's native UI framework, enabling faster engineering delivery and cumulative design value rather than fragmentation
  • Develop functional prototypes that enable product leaders to validate decisions in days rather than weeks
  • Evaluate existing products from the user's viewpoint: identify experience failures, engagement obstacles, and high‑impact improvement opportunities
  • Establish design culture: feedback mechanisms, trade‑off evaluation frameworks, and quality standards you uphold
  • Collaborate with product leaders and engineers, challenging requests that degrade user experience

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Determining product strategy; product leaders retain that responsibility, you ensure the experience enables it
  • Creating static mockups requiring translation into implementation
  • Focusing on a single product; you work across the complete portfolio
  • Executing from a design brief; you synthesize context from ambiguous inputs and begin designing with partial information
  • Waiting for approval; you possess the authority to discover and resolve UX issues independently

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years in product design or UX positions, with complete ownership spanning research through delivered experience
  • Clear evidence of user empathy and research rigor with audiences substantially different from yourself
  • Established design excellence in interaction and visual design, with a portfolio demonstrating audience‑tailored decisions instead of standard patterns, combined with confident design perspective
  • Proven AI‑native approach: rapid iteration, critical evaluation, and willingness to challenge initial AI output rather than defaulting to acceptance
  • Capability to convert designs into code leveraging AI tools and current frameworks
  • Confident establishing a design function and culture from the ground up, rather than joining mature processes
