About the role

First 12 Months: Key Priorities

• Define competitive positioning for key initiatives, understanding where incumbents are

vulnerable and where AFS can differentiate

• Help craft an AI-first Product Management discipline (rewriting the Pat AFS in partnership with

the incoming CPO

• Own end-to-end scoping, requirements gathering, and delivery for one or more strategic product

initiatives, translating complex client workflows into clear specs, aligned milestones, and shipped

capabilities

• Conduct rigorous research and analysis to identify the highest-value opportunities across the

commercial lending lifecycle, including new workflows, user personas, lending products, or

institution segments

• Develop and maintain a detailed product roadmap with clear sequencing, dependencies, and

measurable commercial and customer outcomes

• Lead discovery with prospective and existing clients to validate hypotheses, prioritize problems

worth solving, and define must-have capabilities

• Establish product requirements and success metrics for initiatives: adoption and usage, client

outcomes, operational efficiency, implementation scalability, retention/expansion impact, and

revenue contribution (as applicable)

• Partner with Sales and Marketing to develop clear messaging, packaging/pricing inputs, and

go-to-market plans for new capabilities and releases

• Work within the engineering pod structure to scope, spec, and ship capabilities, balancing speed

to value with platform scalability and long-term maintainability

• Build relationships with industry stakeholders, including prospective clients, industry

groups, and domain experts, to deepen AFS’s understanding of adjacent market needs What This Role Is Accountable For

defining what it takes to win

point solutions in commercial lending and adjacent workflows

• Inform pricing and packaging strategy for new capabilities, determining bundling, tiering,

Product Execution

• Define requirements, write detailed specifications, and drive features from concept

through launch

• Prioritize ruthlessly. Ship what opens markets and drives commercial outcomes, not

what’s technically interesting

and client readiness

• Work within the engineering pod structure, collaborating directly with developers and

• Write clear, actionable specs that engineering teams can execute against with minimal

and investment priorities across major initiatives

Ideal Candidate Profile

Experience

• 7+ years in product management, with significant experience in commercial banking,

lending technology, or financial infrastructure software

• Deep domain knowledge of the commercial loan lifecycle, including origination,

underwriting, closing, servicing, portfolio management, and related operational

workflows. Direct experience with commercial lending operations, loan administration, or

lending technology platforms is strongly preferred

• Experience building or managing products across multiple commercial lending products,

workflows, or user personas (e.g., C&I, CRE, asset-based lending, SBA, servicing,

collateral, covenant, or other related workflows)

• Track record of delivering high-impact product outcomes, such as launching new

capabilities, improving core workflows, modernizing platforms, enabling integrations, or

expanding a product’s market reach

• Experience in PE-backed, high-growth, or enterprise B2B SaaS environments where

speed and commercial impact are expected

• Fintech or consumer banking experience will be considered, but commercial lending

depth is strongly preferred

Capabilities

• Deep product intuition for translating complex domain workflows into simple, scalable

product experiences

• Strong commercial acumen; ability to size markets, build business cases, and connect

product decisions to revenue outcomes

• Strong technical literacy; able to engage credibly with engineers on architecture, data

models, and integration patterns without being an engineer

• Excellent client-facing skills; comfortable presenting to senior banking executives and

translating their operational realities into product strategy

• Ability to context-switch between strategic market analysis and tactical specification

writing

• Data-driven decision making; defines success metrics, instruments features, and iterates

based on evidence

Leadership & Style

• Self-directed operator who thrives in ambiguity; this role requires defining the path, not

following one

• Biased toward action and shipping; comfortable making decisions with imperfect

information and iterating based on market feedback

• Strong collaborator across engineering, sales, services, and executive leadership—

builds trust through competence and follow-through

• Intellectually curious about commercial lending markets; stays current on regulatory

changes, market dynamics, and competitive moves

• Comfortable operating as a domain authority; educating cross-functional teams and

bringing market insights into every conversation

• Operates with speed and pragmatism in a PE-backed environment where timelines are

aggressive and outcomes matter

Decision Scope

• Owns prioritization of the product backlog for assigned initiatives

• Authority to define product requirements and acceptance criteria for new capabilities

• Authority to engage directly with clients and prospects for research, pilots, and feedback

without gatekeeping

• Recommends build vs. buy vs. partner strategies for new market capabilities

• Partners with CTO on architecture decisions that enable scalability, performance, and

extensibility

• Does not own: broader AFSVision product roadmap (CPO scope), market expansion

budget allocation (executive leadership scope), or engineering team management (CTO

scope)

Why This Role Matters Now

AFS has built the market-leading platform for commercial loan servicing at the largest U.S.

banks. Our technology, client relationships, and domain expertise position us to deepen that

leadership—by modernizing core workflows, extending platform capabilities, and delivering new

solutions that solve high-value problems for our clients.

Our competitors face structural and financial headwinds. Market segments adjacent to our core

are underserved by modern technology. And our clients are increasingly looking for a platform

that can cover more of their commercial lending operations under one roof.

The Senior Product Manager will be the person who turns opportunity into a concrete product

strategy and a shipped reality. For the right candidate, this is a career-defining opportunity to

lead critical initiatives at a company that sits at the center of commercial banking infrastructure.
