Our client is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Program Manager to lead impactful humanitarian aid and development initiatives. This is an on-site position requiring a strong commitment to field operations. You will be responsible for the overall planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation of complex programs aimed at addressing critical needs within vulnerable communities. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in program management within the non-profit sector, a deep understanding of humanitarian principles, and a proven ability to manage budgets, teams, and stakeholder relationships effectively. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the strategic planning, design, and implementation of humanitarian aid and development programs.
- Manage program budgets, ensuring financial accountability and efficient resource allocation.
- Lead and mentor program teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local communities, government agencies, UN bodies, and other NGOs.
- Ensure program activities are aligned with organizational goals, humanitarian principles, and international best practices.
- Monitor program progress, identify risks and challenges, and implement timely corrective actions.
- Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of program data and impact indicators.
- Conduct needs assessments and situational analyses to inform program development and adaptation.
- Represent the organization in relevant forums, coordination meetings, and with donors.
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements, contractual obligations, and organizational policies.
- Manage procurement, logistics, and operational aspects of program implementation.
- Facilitate program evaluations and ensure lessons learned are integrated into future planning.
- Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous learning within program teams.
- Contribute to fundraising efforts by supporting proposal development and donor reporting.
- Ensure the safety and security of program staff and beneficiaries in line with established protocols.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in International Development, Humanitarian Affairs, Public Policy, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in program management within the humanitarian or development sector, with significant field experience.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale, complex programs with significant budgets.
- In-depth knowledge of program cycle management, logical frameworks, and results-based management.
- Experience in working with diverse donor agencies (e.g., USAID, ECHO, UN).
- Strong understanding of humanitarian principles and international humanitarian law.
- Excellent leadership, team management, and cross-cultural communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at various levels.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software.
- Ability to work under pressure, make sound decisions, and adapt to challenging environments.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel extensively to program sites.
- Prior experience working in Jos, Plateau, NG and surrounding regions is highly preferred.
