Senior Project Development Engineer

Location: Bellville, Cape Town

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Project Development Engineer with a BEng in Electrical, Mechatronic, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering and 3-5 years of professional experience in the photovoltaic (PV) industry, focusing on system design and feasibility analysis. Exposure to wind energy project analysis and design and energy trading and wheeling projects will be beneficial.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Electrical, Mechatronic, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
• 3–5 years of professional experience in the photovoltaic (PV) industry, focusing on system design and feasibility analysis.
• Proven expertise in solar and BESS technologies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical site inspections to assess solar and hybrid system viability.
• Interpret electrical single-line diagrams for accurate system design.
• Develop conceptual designs for solar and hybrid energy systems.
• Execute detailed costing and simulations for solar system proposals.
• Optimise system designs for maximum efficiency and cost savings.
• Conduct detailed feasibility analyses for energy projects.
• Create financial models to evaluate project economics.
• Apply data analysis to inform strategic business development.
• Lead R&D initiatives for new product and solution development.
• Keep abreast of energy technology advancements and market trends
