Senior Project Engineer

LJB Canada, Inc. is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time SeniorProject Engineer role in Toronto, ON. The ideal candidate will have 5-8 years of experience working on major tunnels, and trenchless projects, including both design and construction roles, and will possess the professional and interpersonal skills to make a positive impact on our firm and the clients we serve.

SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Leading tasks in production of project deliverables for clients • Independently producing technical deliverables according to client specifications. • Independently preparing construction plans and specifications, structural/ geotechnical. • calculations and design reports, and technical memoranda. • Communicating technical and non-technical information in a concise, professional manner, including participation in technical meetings and workshops with owners, contractors, and other stakeholders. • Producing geotechnical and structural engineering calculations (including numerical analysis) as required in support of tunnel and trenchless design including support of excavation (shafts & tunnels including connection details and complex structures), and adherence to all local and national codes of practice for concrete, steel, and timber design. • Independently preparing technical reports including preparation of technical memoranda, letters, and reports, as well as geotechnical data reports (GDRs), and geotechnical baseline reports (GBRs). • Completing geotechnical engineering associated with tunnel and trenchless design including development of design parameters from geotechnical reports and project documents. • Completing structural analysis and design associated with tunnels, shafts, and stations, including lining, connections, support of excavation, and retaining structures in steel, concrete, and timber. • Increasing LJB's visibility in the industry by participating in regional initiatives, conferences, committees, and community associations, including any identified professional association activities. • Field based assignments will include shift work, weekdays, night, and weekend work. Office-based assignments will require a standard weekday business hours work schedule. • Other duties as assigned.

SENIOR PROJECT ENGINEER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:

Education: • Bachelor's degree in relevant area of study required (civil, structural, geological/geotechnical, or related field). Master's degree preferred.

Qualifications: • 5-8 years of relevant project experience in the planning, design, and construction of a variety of tunnel and trenchless projects. • Excellent problem solving, decision making, and teamwork skills. • Excellent technical writing skills and attention to detail. • Excellent communication skills, a thorough knowledge of relevant technical codes, operations, processes, and trends. • Ability to work independently, exercise independent judgment, interact with other staff, collaborate with other disciplines, and mentor junior staff.
