As an experienced Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for the successful execution of complex energy projects from initiation to completion:
Responsibilities
- Lead the full execution of assigned complex BESS and energy infrastructure projects from project handover to final acceptance and close-out
- Take overall ownership for project execution on site, with particular attention to electrical scope, interfaces, construction progress, installation quality, commissioning readiness, and HSE compliance
- Coordinate and lead all project stakeholders, internally and externally, including engineering, supply chain, production/final assembly, logistics, service, finance, legal, customers, EPCs, civil works contractors, electrical subcontractors, utilities, and grid operators
- Drive execution planning, site mobilization, construction sequencing, installation strategy, interface management, and commissioning preparation
- Ensure alignment of technical delivery conditions, site requirements, construction readiness, and installation prerequisites before and during project execution
- Lead regular project meetings with internal teams, customers, contractors, and key suppliers; ensure clear communication, decision-making, and follow-up
- Act as the main operational customer interface during project execution and represent the company with authority, professionalism, and seniority
- Manage and control project schedule, budget, milestones, resource planning, cash-relevant execution topics, and overall project performance
- Identify project risks, interface gaps, technical and execution challenges early, and proactively implement mitigation measures
- Ensure professional management of claims, variation orders, site issues, delays, non-conformities, and escalation topics in coordination with management and relevant internal functions
- Oversee construction site setup, electrical and mechanical installation activities, testing, commissioning support, punch list management, and final project acceptance
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, permits, health and safety requirements, and internal governance processes
- Maintain high-quality project reporting, documentation, forecasting, and management visibility throughout the project lifecycle
- Provide functional leadership, guidance, and direction to project team members and contribute to the further development of project execution standards and best practices
Qualifications
- University degree (Bachelor or Master) in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable technical discipline
- Minimum 10+ years of professional experience in managing complex technical projects with significant on-site execution scope
- Strong technical understanding of electrical systems, installation practices, commissioning processes, and multidisciplinary project delivery
- Proven track record in large-scale electrical, industrial, infrastructure, energy, EPC, or construction-related projects
- Strong background in electrical engineering, including understanding of power distribution, switchgear, transformers, grid connection interfaces, controls/integration, and commissioning-relevant processes
- Solid practical experience in construction site execution, site coordination, contractor management, and interface management between electrical, mechanical, and civil scopes
- Experience in the ESS, BESS, renewable energy, industrial plant, utility-scale electrical infrastructure, or comparable sectors strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead large and complex projects with multiple stakeholders, tight timelines, and significant technical and organizational complexity
- Strong leadership personality with the ability to drive alignment, take ownership, challenge constructively, and make decisions
- Senior presence in dealing with customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and executive stakeholders
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project budgets, change management, claims, contractual obligations, and risk exposure
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a structured and proactive working style
- Hands-on mentality combined with strategic overview and execution discipline
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in multicultural and international environments
- Fluency in German and English, written and spoken, is mandatory
- Willingness to travel approx. 20–30%, including international travel to the USA and other regions as required

This position is subject to the collective agreement for the metal (processing) trade. We offer a minimum gross monthly salary of EUR 4,800 in line with the market for this position. A willingness to overpay and/or travel allowance is possible depending on qualifications and experience.
