Brief Description
Initiates and maintains extensive contacts with key technical staff members and officials of Client Agencies and companies, requiring skill in persuasion and negotiations of critical issues. At this level individuals will have demonstrated creativity, foresight, and mature technical judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented project related problems, determining program objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for diverse project execution activities. Has the background and experience to manage significant projects in the Firm. Has full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating assignments in fulfillment of established scope, schedule and budgeting goals for an assigned project. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation, and development of creative and innovative concepts and approaches. Maintains liaison with individuals and departments within or outside his/her team with responsibility for acting independently on technical matters pertaining to this field. Work at this level requires extensive progressive experience. The Sr. Project Manager provides oversight, supervision, guidance and mentorship to Project Managers, Engineers and technical staff within technical discipline(s). He/she has demonstrated past experience on similar projects and provides supervision of technical staff during the project conception, planning, design, bidding and construction phases of engineering projects.
Examples Of Work/duties
- Leads staff on multiple projects in specific core discipline(s). Provides direction and supervision of projects and staff for resolving issues. Provides technical assistance, leadership, mentoring and support for project delivery staff at all levels within core discipline. Establishes priorities, secures resources and obtains commitment to work according to the project plan with the Department Manager, Project Managers, and any other discipline managers.
- Responsible for ensuring the project performance objectives of delivering quality projects, on time, on budget and to the client’s satisfaction are met through proactive implementation of and compliance with SCE’s Process Flow Diagram and Standards of Performance (SOP). Work with project teams and Clients as necessary to deliver projects.
- Responsible in leading internal project Kick-off Meetings to effectively communicate project scope, schedule, technical approach, milestones, etc. to project delivery team and to ensure clarity on assigned role, scope and associated hours for each member of the project delivery team.
- Serves as Process Manager on several multi-discipline projects, across multiple Clients.
- Mentors technical engineering production staff at varying levels on critical project delivery through regular engagement on projects (e.g., contracting, work planning, monthly project reviews, progress meetings).
- Develop and lead a team of individuals. Responsible to document and communicate staff performance and set goals and expectations through annual and periodic performance reviews.
- Perform co-sign of final technical deliverables including contract documents (plans and specifications), cost estimates, reports, and other deliverables.
- Provides technical input for client interactions and lead Client review meetings.
- Develops and nurtures key Client relationships through project delivery.
- Identifies and markets business opportunities with strategic growth Clients.
- Works to develop technical strategies and procedures for an assigned core market practice. Monitors appropriate professional standards and integrates the plans and metrics for quality assurance through all phases of project delivery.

Requirements (education, Licensing, Certifications, Etc.)
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
- 15+ years of related experience.
- PE License. NJ preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Experience with Deltek a plus.
This is a full-time position located at one of our Headquarters Office in Flanders, NJ or our Northeast Office in Hackensack, NJ. The work hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
