About the role

Key Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Manage multiple fire sprinkler installation projects across commercial, industrial, retail, warehousing, and high-risk facilities.
  • Oversee all phases of projects including planning, procurement, installation, commissioning, and final handover.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure milestones and deadlines are achieved.
  • Ensure projects are delivered according to approved specifications, drawings, and client requirements.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Attend project meetings, technical meetings, and site progress reviews.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Manage project variations, claims, and contractual matters effectively.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and supervise project managers, site supervisors, technicians, subcontractors, and installation teams.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to project staff.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination between all departments.
  • Monitor team performance and ensure productivity targets are achieved.

Financial & Commercial Management

  • Prepare and manage project budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor project costs, profitability, and cash flow.
  • Review and approve procurement, subcontractor appointments, and supplier agreements.
  • Ensure accurate progress claims, invoicing, and project reporting.
  • Identify commercial risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Technical & Compliance Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with SANS standards, fire protection regulations, OHSA requirements, and client specifications.
  • Review technical drawings, hydraulic calculations, and project designs where required.
  • Ensure quality standards and installation best practices are maintained throughout all projects.
  • Oversee inspections, testing, commissioning, and handover processes.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular site inspections and project audits.
  • Resolve technical, operational, and commercial challenges efficiently.
  • Support tendering and business development activities when required.
  • Drive continuous improvement within project execution processes and operational procedures.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or similar.
  • Minimum 8–10 years’ experience within the fire sprinkler or fire protection industry.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale fire sprinkler installation projects.
  • Strong understanding of sprinkler systems, pumps, tanks, hydrants, hose reels, and fire suppression systems.
  • Strong knowledge of SANS regulations and fire protection standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Preferred Requirements

  • SAQCC registration advantageous.
  • Experience managing high-value commercial and industrial projects.
  • Knowledge of Revit/BIM coordination advantageous.
  • Experience with contract management and NEC/JBCC contracts advantageous.
