Our client is seeking a highly experienced and results-oriented Senior Project Manager to oversee critical mining operations projects in Welkom, Free State. This is an essential on-site role where you will be responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and successful delivery of major capital projects within the mining sector. You will manage all phases of the project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and scope definition to procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover. Your primary focus will be on ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. This involves developing comprehensive project plans, establishing detailed schedules, and managing project resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, and materials. You will be responsible for risk management, identifying potential challenges, and developing mitigation strategies to ensure project continuity. Stakeholder management is key, as you will liaunt with internal departments, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure alignment and facilitate smooth project progression.

The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of mining processes, geology, and relevant operational technologies. Proven experience in managing large-scale mining infrastructure projects, including surface and underground operations, is essential. You should have a strong command of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2), excellent leadership abilities, and exceptional negotiation and communication skills. A commitment to fostering a strong safety culture and promoting sustainable mining practices is paramount. You will lead and motivate multidisciplinary project teams, drive performance, and ensure clear communication channels are maintained throughout project execution. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and closure of major mining projects.
• Develop and manage project scopes, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks throughout the lifecycle.
• Oversee procurement processes, contractor selection, and contract management.
• Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage and motivate multidisciplinary project teams to achieve project objectives.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders, including internal teams, external partners, and regulatory agencies.
• Monitor project progress, prepare regular status reports, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement within project execution.
• Champion a strong safety culture and ensure adherence to best practices in project delivery.
• Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among all project participants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related technical field.
• A Master's degree is advantageous.
• Professional certification (e.g., PMP, Pr. Eng.) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive project management experience, with at least 5 years in the mining industry.
• Demonstrated success in managing complex mining projects (surface and/or underground).
• Strong knowledge of mining operations, equipment, and processes.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
• Solid understanding of risk management principles and practices.
• Commitment to health, safety, and environmental stewardship.

This role requires a dedicated professional to be physically present at our operations in Welkom, Free State.
