Our client, a prominent player in the renewable energy sector, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to oversee the development and execution of large-scale clean energy infrastructure projects in East London, Eastern Cape, ZA. This role demands a strategic leader with a proven track record in managing complex projects from inception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will be responsible for all phases of project lifecycle, including feasibility studies, permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of renewable energy projects, including solar farms, wind farms, and battery storage facilities.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets, and monitor progress against these objectives.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, ensuring proactive management of potential issues.
- Oversee and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers, contractors, consultants, and legal advisors.
- Manage stakeholder relationships, including government agencies, local communities, landowners, and investors.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead the procurement process for equipment and services, negotiating contracts and managing vendor performance.
- Oversee construction activities, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
- Manage project finances, including cash flow, cost control, and financial reporting.
- Prepare regular project status reports for senior management and key stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil) or a related field, complemented by a Master's degree or PMP certification.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in project management, with at least 5 years specifically focused on renewable energy infrastructure projects, is essential.
- Demonstrated success in managing projects of significant scale and complexity is required.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills are paramount, as is a deep understanding of renewable energy technologies, market dynamics, and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience with contract management, risk assessment, and financial modeling is crucial.
- The ability to foster collaboration and drive performance within diverse project teams is key.
- You must be adept at navigating complex regulatory environments and engaging effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional problem-solving abilities and a commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions.
