About the role
OVERVIEW / PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The senior project planner will report to the specific project manager in a line management structure and to the planning lead in a functional reporting matrix.
The project planner will be responsible for developing overall project execution schedules and manage the project deliverables against the approved baseline schedule.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Develop, maintain, review, and manage detailed project execution schedules, inclusive of resource loading when required. • Prepare, issue and maintain the master schedule of the project including the updated planned vs. actual progress curves. • Set work program and target milestones for each phase / discipline based on the master project execution schedule. • Develop the work breakdown structure (WBS) in collaboration with the project team. • Develop the basis of schedule (BoS) and / or schedule management plan (SMP) for approval by the PM. • Progress and critical path management • Management of corrective actions and schedule recommendations • Fabricator, supplier, and construction contractor schedule management • Assist in recovery plans with contractors. • Assist with project schedule claims. • Identify and report on schedule risk. • Identify progress slippage and establishes means and methods for recovery, as well as new critical activities. • Weekly and monthly schedule reports • Report writing and presentations for management review. • Interface management between departments • Candidates will need to demonstrate a clear level of planning control, governance and reporting with previous experience to confirm their understanding and ability to deliver. • Dependency management within project plans to ensure schedule Integration, identification of issues and suggestion of solutions. • Participate in project meetings and discussions with the project team as required. • Good attention to detail, methodical and must have a systematic approach to work.
REQUIREMENTS:
QUALIFICATION • Relevant Primavera P6 Professional Advance Rel 17 or higher certification (advantageous but not required) • Relevant MS Projects certification (advantageous but not required) • PMI-SP Qualification (advantageous but not required)
EXPERIENCE • Minimum 10 years of project execution planning • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a planner on EPCM engineering projects • Minimum 3 years spent on site during the construction phase of the project. • Excellent in Planning software, including MS Projects and Primavera
SKILLS, QUALITIES, AND ABILITIES • Solid understanding of resource loading within the MS Projects and Primavera environment • Understanding of project histograms development and interpretation • Solid understanding of engineering principles, disciplines, and deliverables • Experienced in multi-disciplinary engineering and construction management. • Analytical skills • Interpersonal skills • Good report writing skills. • Accuracy • Understanding of commercial terms and conditions • Understanding of contract writing and the implementation thereof within a project life cycle • Well-developed computer literacy specifically: Excel; Word; Microsoft Dynamics, Primavera and Projects • Verbal and written communication • Problem solving • Good teamwork • Responsibility
