Job Description

The Principal Project Planner H/F directs the project planning activity in the ITO and/or OTR phase, from NTP to PAC of the project. They will take all measures within their capacity to ensure the project is completed on time. The Principal Project Planner H/F is responsible for managing project planning and scheduling activities throughout its lifecycle, from the tender phase to its closure. This function is carried out in accordance with the process defined in document QMS/00/N/EXEC-N-SCH/PR/678. The Project Planner Manager takes all necessary measures within their responsibilities to ensure the project is completed on time.

1. Main Missions

1.1. Scope

  • The Principal Project Planner H/F is a member of the central project team and reports directly to the Project Director. They ensure full control of planning deliverables and actively coordinate with stakeholders to monitor progress, anticipate risks, and implement appropriate corrective actions. This responsibility extends to all project phases, including tendering, engineering, procurement, and construction (strong involvement required at this stage during the coordination of resources and means on site).

1.2. Main Responsibilities

  • Manages the schedule and generates action plans enabling the project team to keep the project schedule under control and compliant with the approved project baseline.
  • Establish the different parts of the integrated Master Time Schedule or Master Time Schedule (IMTS/MTS) and ensure their alignment with the schedules of other products and sub-projects.
  • Ensure monthly monitoring and reporting of progress and performance for the various sub-parts of the project as well as for the entire project.
  • During the sales and tendering phase, they may be asked to generate, execute, and monitor the Tender Time Schedule (TTS).
  • During the execution phase, they are assigned to complex projects (consortium environment) to support the project director and project manager on all project planning-related issues.
  • Leads the consortium's planning team with respect to the client and coordinates internal and external perimeter planners at the project level.
  • Supervises, supports, and coaches sub-project planners (on a complex project) or project planners in case of limited project responsibility (less complex).
  • Supervises, supports, and accompanies project planners within the framework of complex or less complex projects.
  • Leads project-specific planning meetings, whether at head office or on site, as needed.
  • Prepares and becomes responsible for the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), based on the project's specific scope and the interfaces defined in the Division of Work (DOW). Particular focus on lead times (procurement / site) upstream based on lessons learned and the concrete experience of the current site manager.
1.2.1 Project Development Phase
  • Support the tendering planning team during the development phase to prepare, revise, and finally modify the Tender Time Schedule (TTS) according to the required Scope of Work (SOW).
  • Supports the tendering planning team in negotiating the TTS and any planning-related issues with the client.
  • Reviews all special project control and reporting requirements during the tender to identify any deviations requiring review and negotiation, otherwise defines and provides the standard planning and reporting procedure.
1.2.2 Project Start-up/Execution Phase
  • Develops the Integrated Master Plan (IMP) as a Level 2 EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) control schedule, based on contractual requirements, in cooperation with all stakeholders, and obtains commitment from participants on a common target schedule.
  • Based on internal objectives, develops the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) as a Level 3 schedule for engineering, procurement, and construction.
  • Develops and manages the contractual schedule as the client's integrated schedule, as well as the agreed contractual reports.
  • Reviews and approves supplier schedules.
  • Supervises and assists the site project planner as well as the System Time Schedule (STS) planners for engineering, procurement, civil works, construction, and other participants, as applicable.
  • Provides all relevant finance-related milestones and regular progress updates for the project controller.
  • Commits to formulating feedback and proposing improvements on the standard IMTS/MTS and tender schedules.
  • Ensures that the scope of work is correctly reflected in the IMS / Level 3 schedule, integrating interdisciplinary requirements to establish the best logical sequences.
  • Supervises and guarantees the quality of schedule coding in accordance with internal and sector procedures, including key elements such as WBS structure, scope, responsibility, milestones, units, etc.
  • Obtains commitment from internal and external participants on a common target schedule and secures the IMS acceptance certificate signed by all relevant parties.
  • Formally updates the IMS by consolidating contributions from participants and scope owners, analyzes results (critical path, float, delays, interfaces).
  • Updates the contractual schedule to feed monthly reports to the Client.
  • Implements a comprehensive and structured progress reporting system, providing the Client, Project Director, and AS management with all necessary information for decision-making (target, actual, forecast), while maintaining contractual and internal objectives.
  • Identifies any potential deviations or delays from the baseline and takes necessary mitigation measures with project team members.
  • Supports procurement and engineering teams in finalizing supplier dates in purchase orders (DL, MHO milestones, LD).
  • Ensures that all contractual and internal milestones are integrated into the master schedule for all project phases (payment milestones, client interfaces, DTO, CTO, MHO, TOP).
  • Regularly reviews and monitors project progress via EDM, supplier reports, site deliveries, and the progress status of civil works, erection, and commissioning.
  • Is responsible for the development, review, and presentation of planning reports as part of internal and client monthly reports.
  • Ensures that all contractual requirements for monitoring commercial aspects (claims, payments, subcontracting, orders) are integrated into the IMS.
  • Supports the preparation of payment requests through detailed annexes justifying claim elements.
1.2.3 Closure Phase
  • Prepare, monitor feedback, and write the closure report in accordance with process QMS/00/N/EXEC-N-SCH/PR/678.

2. Responsibilities

  • Inform the project manager and the principal project planner (if applicable) if deviations from planned values have been identified and propose recovery plans. Implement, once validated, any action required to achieve the above objective for the benefit of the project, even if it involves additional impacts for one of the involved AS parties.
  • Educate and train, where applicable, project team members on planning requirements.
  • Continuously propose to the risk and opportunity process, detect project R&Os, identify mitigation or action plans, and implement them once validated.

  • Establishes, implements, and maintains the required internal and external reporting procedures. Particular emphasis is placed on establishing an effective mechanism for identifying risks and opportunities that may impact the timely completion of the project. These issues and events are brought to the attention of the project director and the project team for immediate necessary action.
  • Proactively manages internal and external project activities, ensuring project completion no later than the contractually agreed time by closely monitoring critical paths and project float on an ongoing basis.
  • Measures and periodically communicates project performance in the various phases, followed by progress status, trend indicators, and milestone achievement.
  • Ensures proactive and transparent forecasting of schedule activities to identify potential delays in advance and propose effective recovery action plans with the relevant parties, under the direction of the project director.
  • Prepares and provides in a timely manner all project planning reports on a monthly basis and highlights critical areas for the attention of the project director, project manager, and project team, including participants. Also provides all necessary input for other AS management reports in accordance with commercial and sector guidelines.
  • Works closely with participant planners to monitor and consolidate the progress of their relevant scope within the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and to manage any interface issues that may arise.
  • Relies on site planners to monitor and control site progress in detail and the relevant interfaces between different work phases as defined in the detailed site schedule, which is fully consistent and integrated into the IMS. Supports the project manager in managing project planning and control-related issues.

3. Required Skills

3.1. Education

  • Engineering degree or Bachelor's degree.

3.2. Experience

Mandatory (MUST)

  • Over 10 years of hands-on experience with Primavera Project Planner Manager and other similar software.
  • Planning experience on at least three fully executed projects, including significant on-site presence.

3.3. Necessary Behavior and/or Knowledge

  • Leadership and social skills.
  • General knowledge of power plant systems.
  • Negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Quick decision-making ability.
  • Above-average ability in using spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software.

3.4. Language Skills
