About the role
About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join a stable, highly collaborative accounting team supporting a portfolio of residential, retail, and commercial properties. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented accounting professional who values consistency, autonomy, and a supportive team environment. You will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations for multiple properties, preparing financial statements, supporting budgets, and assisting with special projects as assigned by management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze operating revenue and expense variances
- Reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts to supporting reports
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
- Process monthly payments, including debt service and owner distributions
- Manage real estate tax, insurance payments, personal property tax filings, and business licenses
- Post monthly accruals and collaborate with property and regional managers to ensure accuracy
- Maintain schedules for equity and replacement reserves
- Support annual budget preparation, re-forecasting, and cash re-forecasts
- Assist with audit requests and prepare supporting schedules
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions
- Communicate effectively with site teams, regional managers, and third-party stakeholders
Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Accounting or Finance from a U.S. accredited institution
- 5+ years of experience in property management accounting (residential and/or commercial)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and general ledger management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, PivotTables, SUMIFs, etc.)
- Experience with Yardi or similar property management software (MRI a plus)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
