Senior Full Stack Developer

Job Description

• We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Developer to support a major enhancement initiative for a large-scale public-facing education platform.
• This role will be part of a high-impact project focused on expanding enrollment capabilities and improving the digital application experience for families across New York City.
• The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in Python, Django, React, PostgreSQL, Redis, Celery, testing, and CI/CD, along with experience working on complex web applications in production environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and enhance full-stack web applications using Python/Django and React
• Develop and maintain REST APIs, backend services, and frontend components
• Create and optimize database schemas, migrations, and SQL queries in PostgreSQL
• Implement caching and asynchronous task processing using Redis and Celery
• Build scalable and maintainable features for admissions and workflow-based systems
• Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and regression testing
• Support deployment across multiple environments and collaborate with DevOps teams
• Ensure performance, reliability, and accessibility across user-facing features
• Work with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, high-quality software solutions

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development experience
• 8+ years of experience with Python and Django
• Strong experience with Django REST Framework
• 6+ years of experience with React
• 5+ years of experience with PostgreSQL
• 5+ years of experience with Redis and Celery
• 4+ years of experience with:
• automated testing
• CI/CD environments
• production support and cross-functional collaboration
• Experience building and supporting large-scale, public-facing web applications

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in public sector, education, or government environments
• Experience with accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.1 AA
• Experience with algorithm-based workflows or matching systems
• Experience with Cypress or similar testing tools
• Familiarity with secure coding best practices and application monitoring tools
