Position Summary
SPS Commerce Fulfillment is the company’s flagship SaaS product. It enables vendors to receive and respond to inbound retailer documents (purchase orders, shipment notices, invoices) quickly and reliably — without the need to build or maintain their own EDI infrastructure. Fulfillment connects tens of thousands of trading partners and processes high volumes of business-critical transactions daily.
The Fulfillment QA team (FFQA) is responsible for quality assurance across the Fulfillment product. The team works closely with the Fulfillment UI and back-end development teams to ensure product stability, test coverage, and release confidence. This role represents a unique opportunity to define and implement an innovative quality engineering workflow that will transform how both QA and development teams operate across the software development lifecycle.
As a Sr. Quality Engineer, you will have a high degree of autonomy, driving automation strategy and building agentic testing pipelines from the ground up. While the team is collaborative and supportive, the ideal candidate is equally comfortable working independently in an isolated environment — taking ownership of technical direction, making architectural decisions, and delivering results with minimal hand-holding.
The team is currently running a Momentic.ai pilot program — an AI-native E2E testing platform — and this person will be actively involved in evaluating and scaling that initiative alongside the broader automation strategy.
The team culture is open and constructive: all perspectives are heard, knowledge-sharing is organic, and bureaucracy is minimal. SPS Commerce is among the first in the industry to adopt AI tools in engineering workflows, and this role is at the forefront of that initiative.
Essential Responsibilities / Duties
- Design, implement, and maintain end-to-end test automation frameworks using Playwright and TypeScript for the SPS Commerce Fulfillment platform
- Lead the migration from TestRail to a new Test Case Management System (TCMS), ensuring seamless transition of existing test assets and workflows
- Build and maintain a traceability matrix linking requirements, test cases, and defects across the SDLC
- Standardize test case structure and conventions across the Fulfillment QA team to improve consistency, reusability, and reporting
- Design and implement an agentic test case development process — leveraging AI tools (Claude, Copilot) to automate test case creation from requirements and acceptance criteria
- Set up an agentic E2E test development process — enabling AI-assisted generation, maintenance, and execution of end-to-end test scripts
- Configure and manage CI/CD test pipelines in Azure DevOps, ensuring reliable test execution, reporting, and integration with development workflows
- Collaborate with development teams and product owners to define quality gates, acceptance criteria, and test coverage targets
- Contribute to QA process improvements, test strategy documentation, and cross-team knowledge sharing
- Troubleshoot flaky tests, environment issues, and test infrastructure problems to maintain pipeline reliability
- Actively participate in the Momentic.ai pilot program, evaluating the platform’s capabilities and integrating it into the team’s E2E testing workflow
- This role will be directly responsible for driving the following initiatives:
- Traceability Matrix — Build and maintain a comprehensive traceability matrix connecting requirements, test cases, and defects to improve visibility and audit readiness
- TCMS Migration — Lead the migration from TestRail to a new test case management system, including data migration, workflow redesign, and team onboarding
- Test Cases Standardization — Define and enforce a unified test case format and naming conventions across all Fulfillment QA test suites
- Agentic Test Case Development — Set up an AI-powered workflow where test cases are drafted automatically from requirements and acceptance criteria using Claude and Copilot
- Agentic E2E Development — Establish an AI-assisted pipeline for generating, maintaining, and evolving Playwright E2E tests with minimal manual intervention
- Momentic.ai Pilot Program — Actively participate in evaluating and scaling the Momentic.ai AI-native E2E testing platform, assessing its fit for the Fulfillment product’s test automation needs
Minimum Requirements

- Strong proficiency in TypeScript for building and maintaining test automation frameworks
- Extensive hands-on experience with Playwright for end-to-end testing of web applications
- Proven experience with test case management systems (TestRail or equivalent TCMS)
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies, test design techniques, and defect lifecycle management
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot) as part of daily workflow
- Experience designing and maintaining traceability between requirements, test cases, and defects
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining alignment with team goals
- Experience with version control (Git) and branch-based workflows
- Professional working proficiency in English (written and spoken)
Preferred Experience
- Solid experience with Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipeline configuration, test execution, and reporting
- Experience migrating test assets between TCMS platforms
- Familiarity with API testing tools and frameworks (Postman, REST Assured, or similar)
- Exposure to EDI standards or supply chain / B2B commerce domain
- Experience with performance or load testing tools
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- Experience building AI/LLM-powered QA workflows, prompt engineering for test generation, or integrating AI APIs into testing pipelines
