Our client, a prestigious financial institution in East London, Eastern Cape, ZA , is seeking an accomplished Senior Quantitative Analyst to join their dynamic risk management and trading strategies team. This role is pivotal in developing and implementing sophisticated mathematical models and analytical tools to drive investment decisions, manage risk, and optimize portfolio performance. You will work closely with traders, portfolio managers, and risk officers to provide data-driven insights and innovative solutions in a challenging and rewarding environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, test, and implement complex quantitative models for pricing derivatives, risk management, and portfolio optimization.
- Analyze large datasets to identify market trends, trading opportunities, and potential risks.
- Collaborate with trading desks and portfolio managers to understand their needs and provide tailored analytical support.
- Design and build high-performance analytical tools and platforms using programming languages like Python, R, C++, or Java.
- Conduct rigorous back-testing and validation of models to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Stay current with academic research and industry best practices in quantitative finance.
- Communicate complex analytical findings clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of new trading strategies and risk management frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Mentor junior quantitative analysts and contribute to team development.
- Automate reporting processes and data analysis workflows.
- Perform ad-hoc quantitative analysis as required by various business units.
Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, or Financial Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in quantitative finance, risk management, or asset management.
- Strong programming skills in Python, R, C++, or Java, with experience in numerical methods and data analysis libraries.
- In-depth knowledge of financial markets, derivatives, and fixed income securities.
- Expertise in statistical modeling, time series analysis, machine learning, and stochastic calculus.
- Proven ability to develop and implement complex mathematical models.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts effectively.
- Experience with big data technologies and platforms is a plus.
- Familiarity with financial databases like Bloomberg, Refinitiv, or FactSet is desirable.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a demanding environment.
