Senior R&D Engineer

Our client is a leading industrial player in the specialty chemicals sector. The company designs and produces innovative technical solutions used across multiple industries (advanced materials, water treatment, energy, and more). To support the expansion and structuring of its global commercial activities, the company is seeking a Senior R&D Engineer specialized in macromolecular organic chemistry.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the R&D Director, you will lead strategic development projects focused on polymer science:

• Design and develop new water-soluble polymers and functional macromolecules
• Lead R&D projects from lab scale to industrial implementation
• Optimize polymerization processes (radical, inverse emulsion, solution, etc.)
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior scientists and technicians
• Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and industrial teams for scale-up
• Contribute to intellectual property strategy (patents, publications)
• Support business development by aligning innovation with market needs
• Monitor technological trends and identify breakthrough opportunities

Profile

• MSc or PhD in Chemistry, with specialization in organic / polymer / macromolecular chemistry
• 8–15+ years of experience in industrial R&D (polymers ideally)
• Strong expertise in polymer synthesis and characterization
• Solid understanding of industrial constraints and scale-up challenges
• Proven project leadership experience; team management is a plus
• Fluent English required (international environment)
• Entrepreneurial mindset, hands-on approach, and strong problem-solving skills
