Senior Remote Aviation Technical Writer

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Remote Aviation Technical Writer to contribute to their expanding team. This fully remote position requires an individual with a profound understanding of aviation regulations, aircraft systems, and technical documentation standards. You will be responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining a wide range of technical documents, including flight manuals, maintenance procedures, and regulatory submissions. The ideal candidate is meticulous, detail-oriented, and possesses exceptional writing and communication skills, with a proven track record in the aviation industry.

Responsibilities: Develop clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation for aviation products and services. Interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements. Create and update aircraft maintenance manuals (AMMs), flight manuals (FMs), and illustrated parts breakdown (IPBs). Ensure all documentation complies with relevant aviation authorities (e.g., SACAA, EASA, FAA) regulations and standards. Collaborate with engineers, designers, and subject matter experts to gather information and ensure technical accuracy. Manage the documentation lifecycle, including planning, writing, editing, reviewing, publishing, and revision control. Utilize technical authoring tools and content management systems (CMS) to produce and deliver documentation. Train and mentor junior technical writers, providing guidance on best practices and standards. Contribute to the continuous improvement of documentation processes and standards. Proofread and edit technical documents for grammar, clarity, style, and consistency. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Technical Communication, English, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a technical writer specifically within the aviation industry. In-depth knowledge of aviation systems, aircraft maintenance, and manufacturing processes. Familiarity with aviation regulatory requirements and standards. Proficiency in technical writing software and tools (e.g., Adobe FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, XML). Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Ability to understand and communicate complex technical information effectively. Experience in a remote work environment, demonstrating self-discipline and strong time management skills. Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams. A portfolio of relevant technical writing samples is required. This position is entirely remote, offering the flexibility to work from any location within South Africa.
