Senior Remote Construction Project Manager

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Remote Construction Project Manager to lead and oversee a portfolio of diverse construction projects across South Africa. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to manage projects from the comfort of your home office while ensuring successful execution from inception to completion. You will be responsible for all aspects of project management, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in managing large-scale construction projects, a strong understanding of building codes and regulations, and exceptional leadership abilities. You will interface with clients, contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met on time and within budget. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, superior organizational skills, and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure. You will utilize project management software and collaborative tools to maintain clear communication and track project progress effectively. Key responsibilities include developing detailed project plans, negotiating contracts, managing change orders, and ensuring quality control throughout the construction lifecycle. Your expertise in identifying potential issues and implementing proactive solutions will be paramount. Responsibilities: Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, and resources. Oversee all phases of construction projects from initiation to completion. Manage and coordinate with general contractors, subcontractors, architects, and engineers. Ensure compliance with all building codes, regulations, and safety standards. Monitor project progress, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions. Manage project budgets, track expenses, and approve invoices. Negotiate contracts and manage change orders effectively. Conduct regular site visits (if feasible and necessary, or delegate effectively) and progress meetings. Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders regularly. Ensure quality control and assurance throughout the construction process. Manage project risks and develop mitigation strategies. Foster a safe and productive working environment on all project sites. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. 10+ years of progressive experience in construction project management. Demonstrated experience managing multiple large-scale construction projects simultaneously. In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, materials, and building codes. Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, Primavera). Excellent leadership, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Strong financial acumen and experience managing large project budgets. Ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. PMP or PMP-adjacent certification is a plus. Ability to thrive in a remote work environment and manage distributed teams effectively.
