Our client is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Reservoir Engineer to join their dynamic energy team based in Kimberley, Northern Cape, ZA. This is a critical role focused on optimizing hydrocarbon recovery, managing reservoir performance, and contributing to strategic field development planning. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical background, extensive experience in reservoir simulation and characterization, and a proven track record of success in the upstream oil and gas sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed reservoir characterization studies using geological and geophysical data, well logs, core analysis, and production history.
- Perform reservoir simulation studies to forecast future production, evaluate development scenarios, and optimize recovery strategies.
- Develop and implement enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques.
- Analyze production data, identify performance issues, and recommend remedial actions.
- Prepare comprehensive reservoir engineering reports, technical presentations, and economic evaluations for management and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with geoscientists, drilling engineers, and production engineers to develop integrated field development plans.
- Manage reserves estimation and reporting in accordance with industry standards.
- Evaluate and recommend drilling locations and well completions to maximize reservoir value.
- Stay current with the latest reservoir engineering technologies, methodologies, and best practices.
- Mentor junior reservoir engineers and provide technical guidance.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental and safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in reservoir engineering, with a significant focus on simulation and field development.
- Proficiency in industry-standard reservoir simulation software (e.g., Eclipse, Petrel RE, CMG).
- Strong understanding of reservoir fluid properties, rock mechanics, and multiphase flow.
- Experience with reserves estimation and reporting (e.g., SPE-PRMS).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
- Proven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience with data analysis and statistical methods.
- Ability to work effectively in a hands-on, field-oriented environment.
