Senior SAS Viya Platform Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and motivated SAS Viya Engineer to join our growing data and analytics team. In this role, you will be responsible for deploying, managing, and optimizing the SAS Viya platform in a cloud-native environment.

You’ll work at the intersection of data engineering, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps, supporting advanced analytics and machine learning initiatives across the business.

Key responsibilities Install, configure, and maintain SAS Viya on cloud platforms (AWS/ Azure) or on-prem Kubernetes environmentsManage users, roles, and permissions to ensure secure accessMonitor system performance and troubleshoot platform issuesIntegrate SAS Viya with databases, APIs, and data lakesDesign and maintain scalable data pipelinesClean, transform, and prepare data for analytics and modelingSupport data scientists using SAS Visual Analytics and SAS Model StudioDeploy and manage machine learning models within SAS ViyaAutomate model scoring and retraining processesImplement CI/CD pipelines for automated deploymentsWork with containerised environments (Docker, Kubernetes)Ensure system scalability, reliability, and high availability Required skills and experience Strong experience with SAS Viya administration and deploymentSolid knowledge of SQL and data integrationExperience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure)Hands-on experience with:DockerKubernetesProficiency in Python and/or RUnderstanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelinesExperience building and maintaining data pipelinesNice to have Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform)Knowledge of data lakes and big data ecosystemsFamiliarity with monitoring and logging toolsPrevious experience supporting data science teamsReference number for this position is GZ60657 which is a permanent Hybrid position based in Rivonia offering a cost to company salary of R1.4m per annum negotiable on experience and ability.
