In the IT and Digitalization department at our headquarters in Kassel or our regional office in Wiesbaden, two positions as Senior Security Engineer (m/f/d) are to be filled as soon as possible in the IT Infrastructure and School IT functional area.

The department is responsible, among other things, for supporting self-developed software to assist our employees (m/f/d) in carrying out their tasks. We maintain a modern corporate culture with flat hierarchies and open doors and are a future-proof employer in the public service.

Your Responsibilities

• Security Management: You will independently operate assigned security systems within the security team.
• Security Infrastructure: You will install, manage, and expand our security infrastructure to ensure the secure operation of our systems.
• Cyber Defense: You will prevent and respond to cyber attacks.
• Security Analysis: You will identify security vulnerabilities in the infrastructure and help to close them.

Your Qualifications

You bring:

• A completed degree in Computer Science or
• A completed degree in Business Informatics or
• A comparable field of study, with several years of professional experience in the described field of activity.

Your further profile:

• Sound knowledge and practical experience in administering the Linux operating system in a security infrastructure.
• Very good knowledge in the setup and operation of one or more security systems such as Log Miner, virus protection, firewall, VPN, user authentication, SIEM, or network segmentation.
• Sound practical experience with other products in the IT security environment and the willingness to familiarize yourself with our systems.

Your profile will be rounded off by the following competencies:

• Planning and problem-solving skills
• Stability and resilience
• Ability to learn and flexibility
• Very good German language skills, both written and spoken (C2 language level).
