As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) for Oracle Health's Platform Engineering, you will play a crucial role in managing Oracle databases and Exadata infrastructure, driving operational improvements, and supporting migrations to the cloud. Responsibilities
- Managing day-to-day operations of Oracle databases and Exadata across Production and Non-Production environments.
- Triage and troubleshoot database alerts and issues while conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures.
- Performing capacity management, performance analysis, and improving overall reliability of our database platforms.
- Maintaining Non-Production and Production Standby environments with replication and high availability capabilities.
- Developing and enhancing automation tools and scripts to streamline operations.
- Creating and upholding comprehensive documentation, including runbooks and standard operating procedures.
- Establishing internal standards and best practices aligned with industry standards and Oracle's Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA).
- Mentoring colleagues and fostering collaboration with leadership, clients, and cross-functional teams.
- Contributing to roadmap initiatives including migration planning and execution for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Oracle Autonomous Database.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA, Site Reliability Engineer, or Oracle Database Architect.
- Hands-on experience managing scalable on-prem and/or cloud-native distributed systems.
- A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- A collaborative mindset that thrives in a cross-functional team environment.
- Strong understanding of Computer Science fundamentals.
- Proficiency in PL/SQL and familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Shell.
- Experience with production databases running on Exadata.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of Oracle Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA) and Exadata best practices.
- Experience with high availability and replication technologies like Data Guard and GoldenGate.
- Advanced capabilities in scripting and automation.
- Understanding of secure operations practices and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
- Experience with Oracle Autonomous Database is a plus.
