Role Overview – Senior Site Reliability Engineer (Foundry BizOps)
The Foundry BizOps team is looking for a Site Reliability Engineer who can help us solve problems and enhance our capabilities by supporting applications, services, and platforms.
Key technologies: Unix, Shell Scripting, SQL, Python, Apache Nifi, Splunk, Dynatrace, Jenkins, GIT, XLR, etc.
We regularly review our run state from both internal and development‑partner perspectives to improve the customer experience of our applications. The role engages in and improves the whole lifecycle of services—from inception and design, through deployment, operation, and refinement.
Responsibilities
- Analyse ITSM activities of the platform and provide a feedback loop to development teams on operational gaps or resiliency concerns.
- Support services before they go live through activities such as system design consulting, capacity planning and launch reviews.
- Maintain services once they are live by measuring and monitoring availability, latency and overall system health.
- Support the application CI/CD pipeline for promoting software into higher environments through validation and operational gating, and lead Mastercard in DevOps automation and best practices.
- Take a holistic approach to problem solving, by connecting the dots during a production event through the various technology stack that makes up the platform, to optimize mean time to recover.
- Work with a global team spread across tech hubs in multiple geographies and time zones.
Requirements
- BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., experience with algorithms, data structures, scripting, pipeline management, and software design).
- Ability to help debug and optimize code and automate routine tasks.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages: C, C++, Java, Python, Go, Perl or Ruby.
- Experience working across development, operations, and product teams to prioritize needs and build relationships (must).
- Experience designing and implementing an effective and efficient CI/CD flow that gets code from dev to prod with high quality and minimal manual effort (desired).
Business Operations Context
Business Operations is leading the DevOps transformation at Mastercard through tooling and advocacy for change & standards across development, quality, release, and product organizations. The Business Operations Engineer acts as the production‑readiness steward for the platform, ensuring operational criteria such as system availability, capacity, performance, monitoring, self‑healing, and deployment automation are embedded throughout the delivery process. The team focuses on proactive “shift‑left” practices, risk management, compliance, and streamlining support activities while aligning product and customer priorities with operational needs.
Benefits & Inclusion
- Competitive base salary (U.S. location) with eligibility for an annual bonus or commissions, depending on the role.
- Mastercard benefits for full‑time (and certain part‑time) employees.
- Merit‑based, inclusive, equal‑opportunity employer; applicants considered without regard to gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
- Accommodations available for candidates in the U.S. or Canada who need assistance completing the online application or recruitment process.
All activities involving access to Mastercard assets, information, and networks carry inherent risk; employees are expected to abide by Mastercard’s security policies and report any suspected security violations or breaches.
