Autodesk

Toronto · flexible Full-time Senior CA$123k – CA$180k/yr 1mo ago

About the role

Position Overview

Autodesk is evolving its productivity engineering ecosystem by embedding AI-powered engineering into its platform to improve developer productivity, operational excellence, and platform initiatives. We are looking for a Senior AI Software Engineer who can design, orchestrate, and operationalize agent-based systems that improve engineering workflows across the entire software development lifecycle—from inner dev loop (IDE, local workflows) to CI/CD platforms and developer tooling.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be hands-on in designing and building AI-powered systems that:

  • Automate workflow diagnostics, triage, and optimization using intelligent agents
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging AI frameworks and developer AI platforms
  • Develop intelligent agents that interact with services, APIs, and developer workflows
  • Improve developer productivity through AI-assisted coding, debugging, and workflow automation

You will work at the intersection of backend engineering, applied ML/LLMs, and developer productivity, with a strong emphasis on coding, experimentation, and shipping production systems.

Responsibilities

  • Build scalable architectures and reusable components for AI-powered systems
  • Develop and operationalize AI agents for workflow automation and decision-making
  • Implement feedback loops, evaluation pipelines, and observability for reliable AI systems
  • Prototype and apply LLM/ML approaches for reasoning, automation, and optimization
  • Build APIs/SDKs to enable adoption of AI-driven capabilities
  • Enhance developer workflows across local and CI/CD environments through automation
  • Improve inner-loop developer productivity via IDE integrations and AI assistants
  • Build code-aware AI systems (RAG, embeddings, semantic search) for large codebases
  • Design developer experience (DX) and drive adoption of AI-powered tools
  • Define and measure productivity metrics (e.g., DORA, cycle time)
  • Ensure safe, reliable AI systems with guardrails and human-in-the-loop workflows
  • Develop scalable AI platform capabilities reusable across teams

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5–8+ years of software engineering experience
  • Strong coding skills (e.g., Python, Node.js)
  • Experience building backend systems and APIs (REST/gRPC)
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs/ML systems (prompting, fine-tuning, APIs)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and developer workflows
  • Experience with AI agents or AI-powered developer tools
  • Experience building developer platforms or infrastructure
  • Understanding of developer productivity (DevEx) concepts

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with agent-based systems and orchestration
  • Experience with code intelligence (semantic search, embeddings, RAG)
  • Familiarity with LLM evaluation frameworks
  • Experience with data pipelines
  • Familiarity with code analysis techniques
  • Experience with cloud-native systems (AWS, Kubernetes)
  • Understanding of secure and responsible AI practices
  • Experience with experimentation and impact measurement
