Senior Software Engineer (f/m/d)
GROPYUS
About the role
About The Company
GROPYUS is a technology-based construction company focused on building multi-story residential buildings. Thanks to its prefabricated building system with various design options, industrial offsite construction, and fully digitalized processes, the company manufactures aspirational, sustainable, and affordable homes using timber construction methods. GROPYUS is using scalable construction and manufacturing solutions to tap into a future market, boost Europe's strength in innovation, while also playing a substantial role in improving sustainability.
About The Role
You will be part of a highly collaborative product team working at the core of our manufacturing facility, transforming digital models into physical elements at scale.
Product teams at GROPYUS are responsible for everything they build – including the underlying infrastructure, build pipelines, automated tests, release and rollout management, monitoring, and support. You will be able to rely on solving problems efficiently and effectively, based on a solid architecture and operational foundation. You will also be encouraged to identify and take responsibility for underrepresented topics – both within your product area and across departments.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be part of a team responsible for the integration and coordination of PLC, robot, and third-party systems that manufacture wall and ceiling elements. You will develop software – both independently and through pair programming with your colleagues, ensure functionality through solid tests, and perform deployments and rollouts to live systems. Furthermore, our teams are also responsible for the operation and troubleshooting of the developed software during working hours at the plant.
Your Responsibilities
As a Senior Software Engineer (f/m/d) in the Product Delivery Team, you will take on the following responsibilities:
- Design, development, testing, and operation of software solutions for logistics and manufacturing applications including robots, AGVs, and other (semi-)automated manufacturing facilities
- Work in a hybrid infrastructure (cloud and on-prem), managing complex, large-scale software deployments
- Contribute a Site Reliability Engineering mindset to monitor, maintain, and improve system availability, including reliable updates, latency, and efficiency
- Act as a bridge between digital product development and physical logistics and manufacturing systems to ensure their integration
- Participate in the definition, monitoring, and further development of SLAs/SLOs and key KPIs such as OEE for critical systems
What You Bring
- Several years of experience as a Software Engineer – ideally with a background in manufacturing or logistics systems, Site Reliability Engineering, or software system operation in a Smart Factory
- Hands-on experience in key areas of modern software development: infrastructure, observability, testing, deployment pipelines including quality assurance and scaling
- Experience in operating and supporting large-scale software systems in cloud and on-prem environments
- Work experience in companies with a strong operational culture, ideally in logistics or manufacturing – understanding the commercial impact of system failures
- Familiarity with most of the following technologies:
- Kotlin / SpringBoot
- Kubernetes
- Linux
- PostgreSQL
- Python / Bash (a plus)
- Experience in Cloud Operations (Azure is a plus)
- Familiarity with monitoring and alerting practices for production systems
- Experience in defining and working with SLAs/SLOs
- Willingness to travel to our manufacturing site in Richen as well as within Germany and Austria for team events
What We Offer
- An unlimited contract with 30 days of vacation.
- Attractive additional benefits: We offer a company pension scheme, language courses (English/German), and employee discounts with selected sustainable brands. Furthermore, our external partners support you in the area of mental health to strengthen your psychological well-being through anonymous individual or group sessions.
- Ownership: You can truly make a difference – at all levels of our organization. Find solutions, drive them forward, test, and implement them.
- The chance to be part of something big: Our mission is to rethink an entire industry. Help us reinvent construction and promote sustainable, affordable housing.
- A diverse and enriching work environment: Become a valued member of a wonderfully diverse team of people from over 50 countries. At GROPYUS, we place great importance on inclusion and ensure that everyone – regardless of their background – feels part of the community. This way, our differences become strengths that move us forward as a team.
Join us on our mission to design buildings as continuously evolving products to create the most exciting and affordable experience for all. We build for people and conserve the resources of our planet.
